Graham's Port, 1970
Vintage Port
*** 93 Points (Parker) ***
"...a definite Bordeaux-like nose! Well defined, foursquare at first, opening up nicely with maraschino cherries, cloves, burnt wood/embers and bergamot, gaining intensity all the time in the glass. The palate is very harmonious and elegant. Fleshy, harmonious, seductive on the palate with allspice, nutmeg and ginger sprinkled over the viscous finish and finally, freshly rolled tobacco on the aftertaste. Good length, powerful like many of the 1970 ports continue to be. Superb. Drink now-2020+ Neil Martin Wine Journal Tasted September 2009.
"The 1970 is a monumental vintage port and one of the greats of the vintage. …

Nebbiolo, 1970
Antonio Carpignano
3.78 Lt Bottle
The Nebbiolo has a lovely earthy bouquet. The nose has cherries, dark cherries, tar and slight dried rose notes. Complex and layered. Nice acidity. Medium tannins still present. Cherries on the palate too. Nice finish. Great food wine. Nebbiolo is a fickle grape famed as much for its pale appearance as for its tannic character and produces some of the most perfumed and richly flavored wines. Though generally only medium-bodied, the wines possess rose and anise scented aromatics and deep flavors of cherry, orange peel and subtle green herb tones.

Niepoort Port, 1970
Vintage Port
Rare dumpy bottle.
From the outstanding 1970 vintage. The excellent Niepoort is one of the smallest producers of port. Their ports are sought after by collectors and port lovers.
Reviews:
"Unbelievable bottle! So ridiculously dark. Coffee nose. Very young and dense. Seems surprisingly primary. Still some unresolved tannins. Long finish. With more time, there is an appealing confectionery aspect that emerges. I have had other bottles of this wine and they were more than ready to drink (and actually quite average). This particular bottle needs at least 10 more years of bottle age. Superb!. …

Quinta do Noval Nacional
Nacional- Vintage Port
“This wine is a mysterious phenomenon, a magical wine produced in extremely limited quantities and only in a few years each decade. It is the expression of a terroir and confirms something that is for me a deeply held belief. The Nacional is great because of the grapes and where they come from, not because of anything particular that we do. It has a unique personality, an extraordinary intensity and, even after many years of ageing, retains an astonishing youthfulness.” Christian Seely
The terroir: a small area at the heart of the Quinta do Noval vineyard planted with ungrafted vines and untouched by phylloxera, described as “attached to the soil of the Nation”. …

Recioto
Masi - Enoteca Codi - Riserva Monteleone
"Recioto," as in "Recioto della Valpolicella," refers to a dessert wine made from grapes that were dried on mats after picking. This process turns the grapes closer to raisins, concentrating the flavors. The wines are lovely and taste how you'd expect raisins-turned-wine to taste, rich and sweet.

Barolo, 1969
Marchesi Villadoria - Riserva Speciale
Barolo is known as the 'king of wines' and is made from the Nebbiolo grape. Heady aromas of rose, leather, vanilla, cherry, pepper, cranberry, strawberry. Fruits are perfectly knitted with the tannins and acidity. It's a powerful wine but remarkably subtle. Don't underestimate it and certainly serve it with food to show at it's best. Nebbiolo has naturally high tannins and acidity, so it will take on full-flavoured, rich foods no problem at all.

Denegri Lorenzo
Barolo lies just south-west of Alba in Italy's north-western Piedmont region. It is considered one of the finest and longest-lived wines, often referred to as 'the king of wines and the wine of kings'. These include a garnet color, powerful structure, firm tannins and high levels of acidity and alcohol, with the capacity to age for many years. …

This fame is due not just to the high quality of the wines, but also to the classico zone's iconic Tuscan landscape and wine making traditions.
