Fonseca Port, 1965

Guimaraens Single Quinta Port

Deep red, the colour of black cherry juice; 70% opaque. Dusty apples on the nose, with some spicy tobasco. Sweet in the mouth, red jelly beans but little fruit. The jelly beans come through strongly on the mid-palate. A hot aftertaste with lots of ginger that lasts a long time before dark cherry skins and black chocolate make up the finish. This is a nice port.

Graham's Port, 1965

Malvedos Vintage Port

Wonderful on the nose, full of rich spices and sweet cranberries - really very attractive. Gentle golden sultana fruit on the palate, very mature flavour profile but with plenty of dried fruits and delicious complex spices. Fragrant aftertaste with just touch of spirit before a nutty and delicious long finish that turns into icing sugar flavours. Drinking very nicely at the moment. Reviewed by Alex Bridgeman 2015, TPF.

Toro Albala, 1965

Don PX Seleccion 1965, Montilla-Moriles.
97 Points Robert Parker
LUXURY Gift Pack 20 CL

The 1965 Toro Albala Don PX is a dense and elegant wine, produced from the “asoleo” process of Pedro Ximénez grapes to obtain a great richness in sugars. After the press, it was left to rest. Some time later, it was stored in American oak butts for a long oxidative period of ageing. This wine proceeds from the Aguilar de la Frontera winery’s ageing butts reserved by José María Toro Albalá, who stored a quantity of wine for a prolonged oxidative ageing in years of extraordinary conditions.

This wine proceeds from one of the first grape harvests led by Antonio Sánchez in Toro Albalá. In this year, old amontillado butts were first utilized for Pedro Ximénez’s ageing.

Ryst Dupeyron Armagnac, 1964

Ryst Dupeyron Reserve Joseph Millesime vintage Armagnac
50cl bottle

The 1964 Dupeyron Armagnac is the expression of a single year and has a unique character associated with the year and the cask in which it has been stored. These vintages are bottled at the alcohol level in which they naturally come out of the cask. There is a wonderful contrast between the sweet and sour flavours of wood, amplified by the strong alcoholic degree. Rich palate feeling the alcohol and the concentration of dry plums, spicy with persistent flavour of rancio and of spices, but round, soft and long in the finish. The tannins are very present, but full-bodied and round.

The Maison Ryst-Dupeyon was founded by Joseph Dupeyron in 1905.

Reviews:
"Highly perfumed amaretto, truffle, rose, toasted sesame, saddle leather, damp earth. Quite prominent acidity on the medium bodied palate, Morello cherries, confection, Christmas cake and baking spice. Quite graceful poise, with still some tannic reserve. Got better as the hours rolled on. Delightfully youthful, freshening with air." Cellar Tracker Review (2017)
