Chateau Lafite Rothschild, 1950
Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe
Includes original oak case
*91 Points*
Tobacco, cigar ash, cedar, forest floor, earth, spice, leather, old wood and scents of dried leaves were easy to find. Fully mature, with an elegant palate feel, this was an interesting wine to taste . The wine finished with a spice and light cassis sensation.

Chateau Latour, 1950
Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe (High shoulder)
Established around 1680, the Chateau Latour estate is one of the oldest of the Medoc. At the heart of the estate, the principal parcel named "L'Enclos" is 47 hectares of the oldest vines that are preciously maintained because only they are able to give birth to the "Grand Vin". The wine of Chateau Latour is an example of consistent excellence, no matter the vintage. Firm, tannic and concentrated in its youth, it needs a long cellaring to reveal all of its profoundness, strength and extraordinary richness. At perfect maturity, the wine distinguishes itself by an incredible bouquet of black currant, hazelnut and leather. …

Madeira, 1950
MBV - Tinta Negra - Bottled by Barbeito
This is a rare and very limited release of the 1950 Madeira from the family cellars. The bottles are in perfect condition. There is something ethereal about tasting such a rare vintage. The 1950 Tinta Negra is very dry as one would expect from this style of Madeira. There is a huge amount happening on the complexity front with some bitter nut skin notes with dried flowers and citrus pith. Although quite dry, this does not come across as too severe. An electric wine that is astonishingly refreshing. Massive finish that goes on and on.

Madeira, 1950
Unknown Shipper BOAL
Madeira is a complex, interesting wine and is made in virtually every vintage. Due to the unique estufagem aging process Madeira is one of the longest-lived wines and also improves for days after opening, but will keep, once opened, for a month and more in a decanter. Medium orange amber color with 1 millimeter clear meniscus; appealing, light coffee, almond, reminiscent of Moroccan bastilla on the nose with a hint of passion fruit; tight, silky textured, tasty, balanced, rounded, tart orange, tart passion fruit palate with a vague sense of light salt; long finish.

Madeira, 1950
Leacock's - Sercial
John Leacock sailed to Madeira from the United Kingdom (after the death of his father) in 1741 and at the age of 15 became the youngest apprentice at the firm of Madeira merchants, Catanach and Murdoch staying until his contract expired on 11 March 1749. During his apprenticeship he had been in constant contact with an old school friend, John Patient, residing at that time in Charles Town, South Carolina who suggested that they themselves should commence trading. Leacock agreed and this marks the birth of the now world famous company.

Rioja, 1950
Berberana Gran Reserva
This 1950 Rioja is a beautiful wine that reminds me how amazing older wines can be. The nose is very mature, with lots of leather, forest floor, tobacco, cocoa, a variety of spices including clove, as well as dried strawberry and cherry, stewed tomato, tomato leaf, dried herbs, cooked beef, and lots of dried flowers almost like potpourri. On the palate, the fruit is a bit more forward than it is on the nose, and there is a little bit more complexity, which is almost hard to believe after the whirlwind of aromas we were treated to. There is a sense of livelihood on the palate, a certain energy that the wine still has which is really holding together what is a very mature profile. …
