Warre's Vintage Port, 1960

Vintage port (Grants of St James's Label)

** 90 Points Wine Spectator **

This wine is now beginning to reach its full maturity and is likely to be ready for drinking. As it ages further, it will begin to develop gently into a more tawny style wine. Intense, structured with a nice soft finish." Almost perfect in its maturity. Still delicious.

"A powerhouse port that has been mellowed and opened up by time. Now in its 43rd year, its tannins have softened to reveal dark fruit flavors, herbaceousness and plenty of grip in the finish." Wine Spetator, 2003.

"Masses of rich plums and prunes on the flavour. So rich – such a surprise.

Baron de Lustrac, 1958

Vintage Armagnac (special order)

Baron de Lustrac is a small traditional éleveur specialising in fine old Armagnac vintages. Their extensive range is sourced from neighbouring estates in the Tenereze and Mas Armagnac regions and they keep an ageing and bottling chais near Magnan, in the Bas Armagnac region.

All Armagnacs are aged in 420ltr oak barrels and sold as single vintages. The grapes used are all harvested from the one particular year, and will only be distilled if the conditions were particularly good. Perfect for big birthdays or as a special drink for the connoisseur as they truly are a fine example of the very best Armagnacs around.

Chateau Yquem, 1958

Sauternes Premiere Grand Cru Classe

The vineyard, which has no fewer than 150 parcels of different soil, is cherished throughout the year, each vine receives an average of 50 treatments per year. The selection is particularly rigorous for the grand vin of château d'Yquem: it is often said that a vine produces only one glass of wine . Chateau Lafite Rothschild, 1957

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe (very top shoulder, bin soiled label)

The 1957 Chateau Lafite-Rothschild has a brick, aged appearance but offers up Lafite’s classic cedar and lead pencil perfume. The wine is a bit light compared to top vintages but at age 50, this wine is doing just fine.

Baron de Sigognac, 1956

Armagnac (Comes in original wooden box as illustrated)

Baron de Sigognac 1956 Vintage Armagnac has a beautiful amber colour with gold highlights. There is a delicate nose with an impressive wealth of aromas, where the light scents of pink grapefruit and apricot meet the clear aromas of dried fruits and cinnamon. A true olfactory pleasure. Mouth is as wonderful as nose, and delicately develops a marriage of crystallized citrus fruits and roasted coffee aromas, before merging in a beautiful and long finish of vanilla rancio.

1955 Burmester Port

Colheita Port

We are delighted to offer a UK exclusive on Burmester Colheita Ports.

Reviews:
"(2015) Lovely dark caramel colour, with some truffle and tea notes, edges of olive and green fruits (fig). The maturity on the palate is obvious, again with fabulous sweetness and brown sugar richness, Muscovado and walnuts, but the hallmark of the fresh orange and lemon acidity plays against that and the coffee and walnut cake sweetness and richness." Sherry, 1951

Harvey's No. 2 Medium/Amoroso Sherry
Bottled in 1951 - Level Mid Shoulder

This amoroso sherry wine, was bottled in 1951. An intense sherry that balances sweet and bitter notes with hints of nuts and oranges.

A touch of Pedro Ximénez added to a dry oloroso results in this type of sherry known as “amoroso.” Translated into English as loving or affectionate, the name pays tribute to the smoothness obtained during the lengthy and traditional ageing period. Its alcohol content and body mean that it can be served on the rocks.

Serving Suggestion:
Enjoy around 15 degrees Celsius with blue cheese or desserts.

Chateau Latour, 1950

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe (High shoulder)

Established around 1680, the Chateau Latour estate is one of the oldest of the Medoc. At the heart of the estate, the principal parcel named "L'Enclos" is 47 hectares of the oldest vines that are preciously maintained because only they are able to give birth to the "Grand Vin". The wine of Chateau Latour is an example of consistent excellence, no matter the vintage. Firm, tannic and concentrated in its youth, it needs a long cellaring to reveal all of its profoundness, strength and extraordinary richness. At perfect maturity, the wine distinguishes itself by an incredible bouquet of black currant, hazelnut and leather.

Chateau Lafite Rothschild, 1948

Pauillac Grand Cru Classe

Mature mahogany colour, a little cloudy. Plenty of glycerine, unctuous and creamy port like texture, but without the sweetness, which one could expect given that 1948 wasn’t a very ripe vintage. It kept getting better in the glass.
