Quevedo, 2015

Late Bottled Vintage Port

A 2015 Late Bottled Vintage Port Wine from Quevedo. Sourced from the winery's quintas at Vale d’Agodinho and Trovisca, this is dry, light and lifted. It's not the richest and deepest of the LBVs I've seen from this producer, but its focus and the length on the finish are superb. Very expressive as well, this shows brilliantly just now. It can also age and develop if you want to hold it. -

Quinta de la Rosa, 2015

Sale

Vintage Port
Special Offer | Was £59 | Now £42.50

La Rosa's classic house style achieved by slow maceration in traditional granite 'Lagares' has produced a wine full of luscious forward fruit with a very attractive nose and a long velvety slightly drier finish across the palate

La Rosa is a vertically integrated Quinta rising to 450 metres above sea level, boasting many hidden micro climates within its cirtilage. Where possible we vintage and mature these small 'lotes' separately in order to achieve the maximum complexity in the finished ports, which would not have been possible from a less diversely planted property.

Quinta do Noval Port, 2015

Noval Vintage Port

2015 Vintage Port Wine from Quinta do Noval

“I am delighted to announce the declaration of the Quinta do Noval 2015 Vintage Port. As is well known, a Quinta do Noval declaration cannot be categorised according to the traditional distinction between a full declaration and a single quinta declaration, for the simple reason that all our greatest wines are wines from a single quinta, the great vineyard of Quinta do Noval. Whenever we decide to declare a Quinta do Noval Vintage Port, we are clearly saying that this is a great wine that deserves to bear the Quinta do Noval label.

Ramos Pinto, 2015

Ramos Pinto Vintage Port 1 x 75cl, Single bottle
In original gift box

The 2015 Vintage Port Wine from Ramos Pinto has been described as, "A wine with attractive aromas, fruit and rockrose, a good body with a long peppery finish. A Vintage which will age for many years." (Ana Rosas, Master Blender)

2015 was an excellent year in the Douro, with a very dry growing season and lower than average rainfall. A dry winter was followed by an atypically warm spring, allowing grapes to ripen fully in time for harvest in late August.

The Vintage is made from a blend of grapes from old vines grown in the Quinta de Ervamoira (Douro Superior) and Quinta do Bom Retiro (Cima Corgo).

"This opens with aromas of toasted oak, weedy underbrush, crushed dill and a whiff of camphor. The firm palate is on the lean side, evoking tobacco leaf, star anise, powdered sage, oak and roasted coffee bean but it lacks fruit. Drying astringent tannins grip the close. " - Kerin O’Keefe

Barolo, 2014

Massolino - Riserva - Vigna Rionda

"The Massolino 2014 Barolo Riserva Vigna Rionda is a wine that speaks of vintage as articulately as it speaks of site. The 2014 vintage is one of the most distinctive within these past two decades, with a quality of fruit that is fine, light, ethereal and almost fragile. However, Serralunga d'Alba, where the Vignarionda cru is located, is always characterized by extra power, structure and fruit weight. In a sense, this Riserva represents an intersection between those two opposites, showing both elegance and muscle. The wine opens to a pretty garnet color, and the aromatic intensity is well developed and capped by a mid-weight finish.

Casa Ferreirinha, 2014

Casa Ferreirinha `Tinta Francisca` Douro Red

This wine is deep ruby red in colour, with an intense aromas of balsamic, truffle, forest-floor and pine needles, along with notes of black pepper, asparagus and well-integrated oak. On the palate, it has firm tannins, a lively acidity, spicy notes of black pepper and a touch of saltiness on the long finish.

This producer, founded in 1952, is named after the legendary Porto matriarch Dona Antónia Ferreira. She was affectionately nicknamed ‘Ferreirinha’ by her countrymen, and Casa Ferreirinha, the first producer in the region dedicated to making light wines, pays homage to her memory. Purchased by Sogrape in 1987, it has 520 hectares of vineyard in the Douro in all of its three sub-regions: Lower Corgo, Upper Corgo and Douro Superior.

Chateau Cantenac Brown, 2014

Margaux 3rd Growth Classification
92 Points -Robert Parker

The 2014 harvests were highly expected by the team of the Chateau Cantenac Brown. For four weeks, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc were harvested when they were perfectly ripe. This 2014 Cantenac-Brown is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot. This purple-tinted dark red wine sincerely and deliciously expresses a large aromatic palette of fleshy black fruit, on a good freshness. The palate is also fleshy, strong and has an ample and round structure on tannins with very elegant grains. The finish is long and fruity. It is a refined Margaux Troisième Cru Classé with a real ageing potential.

Chateau d'Armailhac, 2014

Pauillac, 5th Growth classification

93-94 points James Suckling
Very minerally, silky and refined with a full body, firm tannins and currants, stones and citrus. Racy and fine. This has a little more Merlot in the blend but is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon as always. One of the best Armailhacs in a long time. Mar 2015

90-93 points Vinous
The 2014 d'Armailhac is absolutely delicious. Dark red cherry, plum, pomegranate, spice and floral notes are bold and exuberant in the glass. This is an especially extroverted, silky d'Armailhac long on class, finesse and resonance. All the elements are in the right place. Ripe, silky tannins add to an overall impression of creaminess, but there is also a terrific element of pure energy here.

Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou, 2014

St Julien 2me Cru Classe

*** 96 Points Wine Advocate ****

The 2014 Ducru Beaucaillou showed extremely well when I tasted it with Bruno Borie during en primeur. Now in bottle, it delivers on that promise with beautifully defined blackberry and raspberry fruit infused with cedar and pencil box aromas. Quintessentially Saint Julien. The palate is very well defined with fine tannin, pitch-perfect acidity, a palpable sense of energy and frisson from start to finish that delivers plenty of tobacco-infused fruit. It is not the perfection-flirting legend that I have read elsewhere; it is just a damn good Saint Julien that is going to drink beautifully over the next 25 to 30 years.

Chateau Lamothe-Cissac, 2014

Haut Medoc

Chateau Lamothe-Cissac lies mere moments from the prestigious estates of Lafite and Latour, sharing their hallowed grounds and climate, only without the eye watering price tag they carry.

Dark garnet towards purple in color, with on the nose green pepper, foliage, cassis and tobacco. Medium, perhaps medium to full-bodied, with on the palate somewhat astringent notes of under-ripe black forest fruit, black tea, a touch of tobacco with medium-plus acidity and firm, searing tannins highlighting some notes of bitter chocolate on the moderately long finish.

The wine is made by grapes grown on the foothills of the cool climate hills of Constantia. “The grapes are left to hang to dry on the vine and only the best bunches are selected and hand-picked,” reveals winemaker Matthew Day. “At the end of the growing season, the individual berries or raisins are hand picked to make the essence, the very heart of the Vin de Constance.”
