Graham's Port, 2011

Crusted Port

Graham´s Crusted, bottled in 2011, has an excellent dark ruby colour.
On the nose it is packed with aromas of red and black fruits such as cherries and blackberries, combined to lifted floral hints.
On the palate, it is full-bodied, with excellent ripe fruit flavours balanced by a fresh acidity and velvety tannins leading to a long and lingering finish.
Graham's blend this wine from two or three vintage years and age it in bottle for at least another three years before releasing it on the market. Bottled in the same way as a classic Vintage Port this wine will continue to mature in bottle and can be laid down for several years.

Niepoort Port, 2011

BIOMA Vinha Velha Vintage Port - Single Bottle.

Bioma “Vinha Velha”, is a single vineyard Vintage Port from aged vines at Vinha da Pisca (mostly + 80 years old), which is cultivated organically. A hot site, which produces impressive tannins, it formed the backbone of Niepoort Vintage Ports for many years. However, the best parcels were set aside for this wine in 2011, 2009, 2008 and (known then as Pisca) in 2007. Like Niepoort Vintage Port, Bioma was 100% foot trodden with 100% stems. It was then aged in pipes (550 litre)and will be bottled in the third year after the harvest (2014) which, says Niepoort, is what happened in the “old days” when wines were shipped to England in pipes, and bottled later.

Quinta do Noval Nacional, 2011

Vintage Port

"Fantastic: 'The legend lives'... "Could be better than the perfect 1994 and equal to the 1963.”
James Suckling gave the maximum score of 100/100 to the recent Quinta do Noval Vintage Nacional 2011!

“This wine is a mysterious phenomenon, a magical wine produced in extremely limited quantities and only in a few years each decade. It is the expression of a terroir and confirms something that is for me a deeply held belief. The Nacional is great because of the grapes and where they come from, not because of anything particular that we do. It has a unique personality, an extraordinary intensity and, even after many years of ageing, retains an astonishing youthfulness.

Ramos Pinto, 2011

Vintage Port (MAGNUM) in original wooden case.

96 pts Wine Spectator - Deep purple colour, typical of a young classic Vintage. Elegant and fragrant aroma, a denoted fresh and fruity nose of raspberry and ripened plum, with a touch of resin and mint. In the mouth, it is soft yet full-bodied, a solid structure of polished tannins supports the ripe red fruit, a touch of mineral and freshness, notes of mint and dark chocolate. Power and very tasty end. A classic Vintage.

Sandeman Vintage Port, 2011

Vintage Port

"From c. 30 year old block planted vines at Quinta do Vau and Quinta do Seixo (Cima Corgo) this blend comprises 40% Touriga Franca (according to Sottomayer, “the strongest, most structured variety”), 40% Touriga Nacional (“elegance and harmony”), 10% Tinta Roriz, 5% Tinta Cão (“for good acidity”) and 5% Sousão (“to increase colour”). It is a marvellously mineral Port with deep, dark reserves of inky fruit well supported by a charge of sootily fine, schistous tannins. A tightly focused laser beam of blackcurrant and glossier cassis fruit is laced with notes of liquorice and cedar and, as it opens up in the glass, tremendous lift of eucalypt and violets.

2010 Casalferro

Ricasoli, Toscana IGT

92 Points - James Suckling
A wine with aromatic beauty: perfumed and sexy. Full body, super velvety tannins and long and delicious finish. Wonderful intensity and decadence to this. 100% Merlot. Drink or hold. But too good now.

92 Points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
A pure expression of Merlot, the 2010 Casalferro is a plump and modern wine teaming with black cherry and bold blackberry intensity. It makes a statement, thanks to the warm renderings of exotic spice and leather that fill in the back. That said, the wine’s style is by no means over extracted or over-the-top. In fact, it shows medium weight with polished tannins.

2010 Chateau Du Tertre

Margaux

***90 Points- Robert Parker***

Showing better from bottle than from barrel (which makes sense, given that I seemed to be in a minority when judging it from barrel), the 2010 du Tertre has a nice dark plum/garnet color, a slightly more evolved style than most Margaux, hints of cedar, licorice, black olive and black currant fruit with some flowers and subtle smoky wood in the background. Medium to full-bodied, round, generous and ripe, the words “sexy” and “opulent” come to mind when smelling and tasting this beautiful Margaux.

2010 Domaine de Chevalier

Graves Pessac-Leogan

This deeply coloured, concentrated and firmly structured wine will just begin to stretch its legs by 2017, so try to resist opening your bottles until this time. Then let the wine breathe in a decanter for a couple of hours before serving. Enjoy this wine with simple red meat dishes or mature cheeses when young, and with game and sauced meats when it is more mature.

The world-renowned American wine writer Robert Parker describes Domaine de Chevalier as "a true connoisseur's wine" and adds "the production is tiny and the wines are amongst the most highly sought-after of Pessac-Léognan". He writes of this vintage's offering: "Consultant Stephane Derenoncourt along with owner Olivier Bernard have done a fabulous job over recent years .

Barolo, 2010

Scarzello - Comune di Barolo

2010 challenged Piemonte's winemakers, but this is a classic vintage, reminiscent of the '80s and '90s, a time of consistently cooler, wetter, more stressed vintages. Scarzello’s ’10 Barolo is bewitching--the wine layers its crisp red and blue fruits with worn saddle leather, underbrush, rose petals, and a dusting of minerals and herbs. Chewy tannins cling to the cheeks, while a driving acidity powers the wine to a lingering, silky finish that’s accented by spices and herbs. Deriving from two separate vineyards, the monopole Vigna Merenda in Sarmassa and a plot in Terlo, the grapes for this wine ferment for about thirty days, and the wine ages in oak barrels for two years, followed by one year in bottle before release.

Burmester Port, 2010

Quinta de Arnozelo Vintage Port

Tasting Notes
Red and black fruit in the aroma, with much youth, blackberry compote. Very attractive in the mouth, elegant and with a beautiful presence, it proves very lively and fresh with citrus notes to mark presence. Will mature over the next 10-15 years.

Food Pairing
The association of Vintage Port with a mature blue cheese such as Stilton is one of the great classic food and wine combinations. The soft buttery texture, mellow character and piquancy of the cheese are perfectly matched by the powerfully majestic flavours of the Vintage Port. Other blue, buttery, mellow and slighty piquant cheeses to consider would be: Cashel Blue, Roquefort, Gorgonzola and Saint Agur Blue.

Chateau d'Issan, 2010

Margaux 3me Cru

*** 95 Points - Robert Parker ***

A complete, medium to full-bodied, exquisite Margaux from this medieval, moat-encircled, compellingly beautiful estate in the southern Medoc, D’Issan’s 2010 is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. The deep, gravelly soils mixed with clay have provided extraordinary aromatics. The yields were ridiculously low (22 hectoliters per hectare) and the wine tips the scaled at 13.7% natural alcohol. Production was small after the selection for the grand vin, and the result is a dense, purple-colored wine with beautiful aromatics of spring flowers, blueberries and black raspberries as well as hints of cassis, tar and charcoal.

Haut Medoc, 3rd Growth

The Wine Advocate - Another great success from proprietress Caroline Frey, the 2010 La Lagune provides an essential drinking experience, with notes of Asian plum sauce, mulberries, kirsch liqueur and black currants. The wine also exhibits a savory, rich smokiness and subtle lead pencil shaving notes. Clos Manou, 2010

Medoc

The 2010 Clos Manou is Dark red, impressively big, yet structured, energetic but not overly acidic and rather sophisticated for a Medoc A. C. Nose of milk chocolate, sour cherry, smoke, and a bit of herbs. Steely feel on the tip of the tongue that morphs into harsh yet fine-grained astringency. On mid-palate, there's enough sweetness and black fruit, lots of cassis, spice, blackberries, tobacco and earth. The acidity makes for a mouth-watering finish that lingers for quite a while.
Please decant for 2-3 hours upon opening.

Kopke Port, 2010

Quinta Santa Luiz Vintage Port

Kopke Port is the oldest port house. Established in 1638 by Nicolau Kopke and his son Cristiano, who came to Portugal as representatives of the Hanseatic League, the House has been run through the generations by several representatives of the Kopke family, obtaining an excellent reputation for its wines.

Vintage or “bottle-aged” ports must receive approval of the Port Wine Institute to declare a vintage of recognized quality. Then, the entire vintage must be bottled between the second and third year. Since it improves in the bottle, it maintains its red color and red fruit flavors. It often takes 10 or more years to smooth the tannins and develop to its full potential,
