Chateau Grand Corbin Despagne, 2010

SAINT EMILION

*** 92-93 Points Wine Spectator ***

Splendid opulent fruit, but still a plump infant and not yet completely 'married'. This has lots of Pomerol character and fleshy texture. Last taste is fresh fruit. 75% merlot, 24% cabernet franc, 1% cabernet sauvignon. 50% new barrels. 14.5% alc
Soft and round with chocolate, coffee and dark fruits. Full and velvety. Chewy in the end. Best ever. Jamessuckling.com

Haut Medoc, 3rd Growth

The Wine Advocate - Another great success from proprietress Caroline Frey, the 2010 La Lagune provides an essential drinking experience, with notes of Asian plum sauce, mulberries, kirsch liqueur and black currants. Clos Manou, 2010

Medoc

The 2010 Clos Manou is Dark red, impressively big, yet structured, energetic but not overly acidic and rather sophisticated for a Medoc A. C. Nose of milk chocolate, sour cherry, smoke, and a bit of herbs. Steely feel on the tip of the tongue that morphs into harsh yet fine-grained astringency. On mid-palate, there's enough sweetness and black fruit, lots of cassis, spice, blackberries, tobacco and earth. The acidity makes for a mouth-watering finish that lingers for quite a while.
Please decant for 2-3 hours upon opening.

Kopke Port, 2010

Quinta Santa Luiz Vintage Port

Kopke Port is the oldest port house. Established in 1638 by Nicolau Kopke and his son Cristiano, who came to Portugal as representatives of the Hanseatic League, the House has been run through the generations by several representatives of the Kopke family, obtaining an excellent reputation for its wines.

Vintage or “bottle-aged” ports must receive approval of the Port Wine Institute to declare a vintage of recognized quality. Then, the entire vintage must be bottled between the second and third year. Since it improves in the bottle, it maintains its red color and red fruit flavors. It often takes 10 or more years to smooth the tannins and develop to its full potential,

Barbeito Madeira, 2009

Verdelho - 10 year Old Madeira (presented in a leather effect gift Box)

'Sercial and Barbeito seem like a marriage made in heaven and indeed Barbeito 10 Year Old Sercial Madeira tastes heavenly. My tasting note: 'Peachy pale tawny. Racy with that wonderful purity and acidity, yet heady and with massive depth of fruit. Tense, serious, complex. A marvel really. Only just off dry, this would make a fabulous aperitif.'

The world class 2009 Casa Ferreirinha Especial is only the 17th edition of Reserva Especial since its was first released in 1960. Reserva Especial is an iconic Douro red wine. Only released by Casa Ferreirinha in years where, after ageing, bottling and regular tasting and consideration, it is finally not deemed to be a Barca Velha (Portugal’s most iconic and expensive red wine) by Casa Ferreirinha’s Chief Winemaker Luís Sottomayor.

Intensely coloured, almost opaque. Its delightful aroma is equally intense, reminiscent of very ripe red fruits and black plums. Cinnamon and clove spice, with balsamic, cedar and tobacco box are also evident, allied with very well integrated notes from barrel ageing.

Chateau Duhart Milon Rothschild, 2009

Pauillac 4th Growth Classification

*** 97 Points - Robert Parker ***

A blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon and 37% Merlot, it displays an inky/blue/purple color as well as a big, sweet nose of creme de cassis, forest floor, licorice, lead pencil, cedar and subtle barrique smells. Viscous and full-bodied, it is the most concentrated and broadest example of this cuvee I have tasted in over three decades. It will be ready to drink in 5-7 years and should last for three decades or more. Consumers looking to maximize value should be checking out Duhart Milon, as this may be the single smartest purchase in this great and historic vintage!

Since few consumers other than Chinese billionaires can afford wines such as Lafite Rothschild,

Chateau Grand Puy Ducasse, 2009

93 Points Robert Parker.
Aromas of blackberries, unsmoked cigar tobacco and cedar/sagebrush jump from the glass of this dense purple-hued Pauillac. Full-bodied with more depth and richness than usual as well as moderate tannins, this potential sleeper of the vintage offers 15-20 years of aging potential. Moreover, it is modestly priced. Purchasers should give it 4-5 years of cellaring and enjoy it over the following two decades. Drink: 2016 - 2036
