2023 En-Primeur Offer

Buying En Primeur Also known as "wine futures," En Primeur allows you to purchase wines before they are bottled and officially released. These wines are offered exclusive of Duty and VAT and are usually shipped 3 months after the offer. Purchases must be made by the unmixed case (e.g., 12 bottles, 24 half-bottles, or 6 magnums).

The opening En Primeur price is often significantly lower than the wineâ€™s future retail price once bottled. It is also the best way to secure rare or limited-production wines that may sell out quickly upon release.

What exactly do I pay?

The En Primeur price you pay is exclusive of Duty and VAT. Once the wines arrive in the UK, you can choose to keep them 'in bond' (stored in a bonded warehouse), which defers Duty and VAT. This is an excellent option if you plan to resell or continue cellaring without immediate tax costs.

Alternatively, you can choose to take your wines 'Duty Paid', which means paying the prevailing Duty and VAT at the time of delivery, plus a small shipping fee. As of June 2024, Duty on Port wine is £25.68 per case of 6 x 75cl bottles.
