Description
Château des Gondats is the name given to the 2nd wine of Château Marquis de Terme, a Margaux 4ème Cru Classé property. The latter has been owned by the Séneclauze family since 1936. Château des Gondats is classified as a Bordeaux Supérieur as its vineyards are totally separate from those of Marquis de Terme. They are located near the Gironde estuary on the pallus east of the village of Margaux, and thus outside the boundaries of the Margaux appellation. The wines of Gondats are blended with those of Marquis de Terme which have been eliminated from the Grand Vin. The result is an eminently drinkable robust and fruit-driven claret that sells for a fraction of the price of its more illustrious Margaux neighbours.
