Description
1965 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Brotte & Armenier
Rhône Valley, France
A fascinating collaboration between two respected Rhône names — Maison Brotte and the Domaine des Arméniers family — this 1965 Châteauneuf-du-Pape captures the traditional Grenache-led style of the appellation in its most classic form.
Now beautifully mature, the wine shows a pale brick-red colour with amber reflections. The bouquet opens with dried strawberry, leather, garrigue herbs, and sweet spice, followed by subtle notes of fig, tobacco, and old oak. The palate is soft, mellow, and gently savoury, with lingering flavours of dried red fruit, thyme, and warm earth, carried by silky tannins.
Serving & Pairing:
Best served at 17°C after a brief decant to awaken its delicate aromatics. Pairs beautifully with roast lamb, duck confit, mushroom dishes, or aged Comté, complementing its rustic Provençal character.
Drink now. A graceful, time-worn Châteauneuf that reflects the charm and warmth of mid-century southern Rhône winemaking.
