Les Forts de Latour, 1974

Pauillac (2nd wine of Chateau Latour)

Les Forts de Latour 1974 is the second wine of Château Latour, one of Bordeaux's first-growth estates in the Pauillac appellation. While Château Latour produces world-class wines, the 1974 vintage was notoriously difficult for Bordeaux due to poor weather conditions throughout the growing season, including heavy rain and cool temperatures. As a result, many wines from that year are considered lighter and less age-worthy than those from better vintages. While it may not have the power or longevity of great vintages, it can still offer a fascinating glimpse into the history and craftsmanship of Château Latour.

Nebbiolo is a fickle grape famed as much for its pale appearance as for its tannic character and produces some of the most perfumed and richly flavored wines. Cotes du Rousillon, 1973

Beatrice- Quinson fils

This 1973 Roussillon red predates the official creation of the Côtes du Roussillon AOC in 1977, when the region’s wines were still bottled under the broader “Vin de Roussillon” or VDQS designations. The vineyards of the time were heavily planted to Carignan, which provided the backbone of the blend, supported by Grenache Noir and Cinsault, with only small traces of Mourvèdre. The result is a rustic, traditional southern French style that has now become increasingly rare to encounter.

Now over fifty years old, the wine shows a pale garnet colour with brick hues at the rim. Carignan’s hallmark acidity and earthy edge frame aromas of dried cherry, prune, leather, and garrigue herbs.
