Chianti, 1991
New
Cavaliere C. Campagna Gello
Chianti, situated in Tuscany in central Italy, is home to probably the best-known and most iconic of all Italian wines.
The area’s most highly regarded wines come from the Chianti Classico zone which is the heartland of the Chianti wine region – its traditional and longest-established vinicultural area. This fame is due not just to the high quality of the wines, but also to the classico zone's iconic Tuscan landscape and wine making traditions. This Chianti is characterised by its red and black cherry character, intermingled with notes of wild herbs, mint and spice, supported by a racy acidity and mellow tannins. …

Montepulciano, 1991
d'Abruzzo, Falchetto
Montepulciano is a red wine grape variety grown widely in central Italy, most notably its eastern Abruzzo, Marche and Molise regions. The variety was named after the Tuscan parish of Montepulciano, but, confusingly, is not used in the famous wines produced there (see Vino Nobile di Montepulciano). Globally appreciated for their soft flavors, strong color and gentle tannins, Montepulciano wines are typically best consumed in their youth and with food. The deep-purple juice of Montepulciano grapes is used in varying proportions to produce wines under roughly 50 of Italy's DOC and DOCG titles. Although sometimes used on its own, …

Valtellina, 1991
New
Nino Negri
Valtellina is one of Italy’s most dramatic wine regions, located in Lombardy, the vineyards are located on steep mountains. The principal grape variety is Chiavennasca (the local name for Piedmont’s Nebbiolo and an Italian grape varietal that has been cultivated since medieval times here). The DOCG wines are generally comprised of at least 90% Chiavennasca and then blended with other quality local grapes like Brugnola, Rossola, Pignola. Then there is a DOC Valtellina Rosso (also called Rosso di Valtellina DOC) which requires at least 80% of the blend be Chiavennasca and does not have minimum ageing requirements. …

Baron de Sigognac, 1990
Armagnac
Includes Original Sigognac Wooden Box
The company behind this Armagnac owns one of the most important stocks of old vintages in the whole region. They are growers as well as distillers and specialise in sourcing and ageing old casks of Armagnac.
This Armagnac is made from a blend of Baco and Ugni Blanc, the predominant grapes used in the production of Armagnac. The distillation takes place in a column still to an alcohol strength of about 54%. The spirit is then aged in local black oak casks. The alcohol content then reduces naturally to about 40% after about forty years. Presented in a perfectly simple wooden box.

Dao, 1990
Porta dos Cavaleiros
Caves S. Joao, established in 1920, became a dominant force in Portuguese wine making in the early 20th century with their houses Porta dos Cavaleiros in Dao and Frei Joao in Bairrada. Given the shifting trends in consumer preferences, Bairrada and Dao fell to obscurity in the 1990s when critical influence drove the demand for bigger, extracted, warmer climate wines. As in all things, however, what comes around goes around! Sure enough, 20 years later savvy consumers and food-conscious sommeliers are looking for finesse and freshness and heading back to Bairrada and Dao. Wines that when young had a vegetal character, …

Dom Perignon, 1990
Dom Perignon Rose Champagne
1990 Dom Pérignon Rosé- Hedonist's Gazette, June 2010: The 1990 Dom Pérignon Rosé, tasted from before dinner, was breathtakingly beautiful, with superb definition, depth and purity to its rich, textured mousse. It provided yet another reminder of just how much Champagne excels in large formats. This was a fabulous bottle I came back to often throughout the evening. It never failed to make a lasting impression.

Dom Perignon, 1990
Champagne in own gift box
** 98 Points - In Asia **
Reviews "Medium lemon-straw colour. Intensely fragrant nose with aromas of jasmine, cinnamon buttered toast, stewed apples and preserved ginger. Concentrated honey-nut, warm apple tart and spice flavours fill the mouth giving ample flesh to the firm, fine structure. The bubbles are still remarkably frisky and, in harmony with the crisp backbone of acid, make for a relatively youthful, elegant and exquisitely balanced wine. Very long finish." Veuve Clicquot, 1990
Ponsardin Champagne
The 1990 Veuve Clicquot is... "a medium gold colour, no hints of orange - very fine bubbles that persisted for 1-2 hrs - beautiful old brioche nose with light to moderate oxidation, dried apples and pears, asian spices (Saigon cinnamon), and flinty minerality - full-bodied mouth with loads of very ripe apple/pear fruit, more oxidative flavors than in the nose - great acidity that provided a refreshing youthfulness to a mature champagne - longer finish than most red wines of the same age with a beautiful sweet aftertaste sans any hint of bitterness - I agree with earlier tasting notes that it combined both impressive power with delightful elegance". …

We are delighted to offer a UK exclusive on Burmester Colheita Ports.
Reviews:
"The 1989 Colheita Tawny Port was bottled in 2015 with 103.6 grams per liter of residual sugar. Fresh and balanced, with a feeling of liveliness, this is more about restraint and elegance than mid-palate weight, but it shows fine concentration of flavor on the finish and delivers more than adequate mid-palate concentration as well. It also has more power than anticipated on first taste. Tightening fast as it warms, its fresh feel if laced with just a touch of Whiskey that provides the perfect counterweight to the tension on the finish and fine flavors. …
