Quevedo, 1992

Sale

Colheita Port
Special Offer | Was £79.95 | Now £49.95

*** 90 Points, Roy Hersh - For the Love of Port ***

The 1992 Quevedo Colheita is an outstanding quality and value effort from this family-run estate. Oscar and Claudia Quevedo have produced a light brown port with hints of amber. On the palate there are nuts and a lovely light molasses note with coffe and spices The finish is long and lingering as befits a quality port such as this. Outstanding!

Reviews:
"This was a cask sample which Oscar Quevedo had sent to me by way of Vinologia and how often do you get to try 16 year old bottled cask samples of any wine? I can't begin to describe the color as we sat beneath the bridge on the Porto side, sipping and talking during the wee hours our first night in country (Andy/ Stewart/Roy).

Quinta de la Rosa, 1992

Vintage Port

93 pts Robert Parker

"The powerhouse 1992 Vintage Port exhibits a huge, highly extracted, chocolate and black-raspberry-scented nose, full body, unctuously-textured flavors, moderate tannin, and a chewy, long finish. It requires 7-8 years of cellaring as it is revealing more structure than other 1992s. It should keep for 25-30 years." Robert Parker Wine Advocate.

Ruche di Castagnole, 1992

Fratelli Rossi

"Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato, a rare indigenous wine, is produced in a limited area of the Monferrato Astigiano, in only seven municipalities including and centring on Castagnole Monferrato, which more than any other is blessed by the sun which bathes its hills. The dry, calcareous soil makes this area ideal for the cultivation of this indigenous variety. There are no reliable records which recall the origin of the name (Ruchè), but the most credible theories have it that Ruchè arrived in Piedmont in medieval times, brought from France by monks who planted it around a monastery of which there is no trace today, but which was a holy place dedicated to San Rocco.

Taittinger, 1992

Vintage Champagne Matta Label

As the years went by, Matta’s work, influenced for a long time by the violence and oppression that sadly marked this era, became subdued and more poetic.

These are some of the characteristics found on the design he created in his homage to Champagne. Matta leads the design with poppies, a well-known symbol of war remembrance and painted them on an ochre background. These flowers represent a need for nostalgia, yet a spirit of continuation all the same. Calligraphic marks, reminiscent of the famous ‘automatic writing’ of the surrealists, run across the design.

The bottle contains a Brut Millésimé 1992, made from a combination of Chardonnay (50 %) and Pinot Noir (50 %).

Taylor's Port, 1992

Vintage Port

*** 100 Points - Robert Parker ***
***19/20 Jancis Robinson***

"Taylor's 1992 Vintage Port is unquestionably the greatest young port I have ever tasted. It represents the essence of what vintage port can achieve. The color is an opaque black/purple, and the nose offers up fabulously intense aromas of minerals, cassis, blackberries, licorice, and spices, as well as extraordinary purity and penetration. Yet this is still an unformed and infantile wine. If Chateau Latour made a late-harvest Cabernet Sauvignon, I suspect it might smell like this. In the mouth, the wine is out of this world, displaying layer upon layer of concentrated black fruits backed by well-integrated tannin and structure.

Ryst-Dupeyon Armagnac, 1991

Ryst Dupeyron Reserve Joseph Millesime vintage Armagnac
50cl bottle

The 1991 Dupeyron Armagnac is the expression of a single year and has a unique character associated with the year and the cask in which it has been stored. These vintages are bottled at the alcohol level in which they naturally come out of the cask. There is a wonderful contrast between the sweet and sour flavours of wood, amplified by the strong alcoholic degree. Rich palate feeling the alcohol and the concentration of dry plums, spicy with persistent flavour of rancio and of spices, but round, soft and long in the finish. The tannins are very present, but full-bodied and round.

The Maison Ryst-Dupeyon was founded by Joseph Dupeyron in 1905.

1991 Chateau Duhart Milon Rothschild, 1991

Pauillac 4th Growth Classification

"Duhart's 1991 possesses more depth, ripeness, and potential complexity than the soft, light, one-dimensional 1992. Although the 1991 exhibits deep color, attractive, spicy, grilled nut, cassis, and weedy aromas, and fine depth, it reveals astringent tannin." Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, February 1994

1991 Fonseca Vintage Port, 1991

Guimaraens Vintage Port

Dark, maturing, still very densely coloured on inspection though. The nose starts off in a very obvious fashion, full of sweet fig and cedar, showing plenty of spice and with a little time also a fair whack of spirit. But with time it does all channel down into something a little more defined, mainly a cedary wood-spice with chalky, vanilla tinged, edge, but also a painty-chemically nuance too. It suggests a dry structure, perhaps with a woody streak, but although there are elements of this on the palate much more evident - at first at least - is the rather fat and substantial entry, with a slightly plump and soupy feel.

Barolo, 1991

New

Sobrero & Figli - Riserva Pernanno

Barolo is known as the 'king of wines' and is made from the Nebbiolo grape. Heady aromas of rose, leather, vanilla, cherry, pepper, cranberry, strawberry. Fruits are perfectly knitted with the tannins and acidity. It's a powerful wine but remarkably subtle. Don't underestimate it and certainly serve it with food to show at it's best. Nebbiolo has naturally high tannins and acidity, so it will take on full-flavoured, rich foods with no problem at all.
