Recioto, 1983
Scamperle
"Recioto," as in "Recioto della Valpolicella," refers to a dessert wine made from grapes that were dried on mats after picking. This process turns the grapes closer to raisins, concentrating the flavours. The wines are lovely and taste how you'd expect raisins-turned-wine to taste: rich and sweet.

Taittinger, 1983
Vintage Champagne Da Silva Label
Amongst Champagne's luxury cuveés and super-premium labels, Taittinger's wines live on one extreme end of the style spectrum.
While many top Champagnes can be quite difficult to approach in their youth, with laser-like focus and delineation, even austerity, Taittinger instead tends to be immediately open and welcoming. These are beautiful, delicious Champagnes, with bubbles lazily winding their way up to the surface, inviting you to take another sip.

Taylor's Port, 1983
Vintage Port
An outstanding port scoring 94/100 parker points.
Review: This house must certainly be the Latour of Portugal. Their ports are remarkably backward yet still impressive when young. Of all the vintage ports, those of Taylor need the longest time to mature and even when fully mature seem to have an inner strength and firmness that keep them going for decades. Their tawnys are also among the very best, though somewhat expensive. The 1983 is wonderfully aromatic and so perfumed (a characteristic of this charming vintage), yet powerful, long and deep on the palate.

Warre's Vintage Port, 1983
Vintage Port
*** 90 Points - Robert Parker ***
Light red colour with just a touch of purple showing through. Warre has drier firm style, less show more workman-like but with elegance and what the Symingtons call “florals”. The style at 25 years is charming. It’s above all harmonious with a dried fruit and almonds undercurrent mixed with a pinch of cocoa and tea leaf. It has fine acidity and length with just the right bite in the back end.

Ryst-Dupeyon Armagnac, 1982
Ryst Dupeyron Reserve Joseph Millesime vintage Armagnac
50cl bottle
The 1982 Dupeyron Armagnac is the expression of a single year and has a unique character associated with the year and the cask in which it has been stored. These vintages are bottled at the alcohol level in which they naturally come out of the cask. There is a wonderful contrast between the sweet and sour flavours of wood, amplified by the strong alcoholic degree. Rich palate feeling the alcohol and the concentration of dry plums, spicy with persistent flavour of rancio and of spices, but round, soft and long in the finish. The tannins are very present, but full-bodied and round.
The Maison Ryst-Dupeyon was founded by Joseph Dupeyron in 1905. …

1982 Madeira
D'Oliveiras Boal Madeira
Madeira is a complex, interesting wine and is made in virtually every vintage. Due to the unique estufagem aging process Madeira is one of the longest-lived wines and also improves for days after opening, but will keep, once opened, for a month and more in a decanter.
Medium orange amber color with 1 millimeter clear meniscus; appealing, light coffee, almond, reminiscent of Moroccan bastilla on the nose with a hint of passion fruit; tight, silky textured, tasty, balanced, rounded, tart orange, tart passion fruit palate with a vague sense of light salt; long finish.
Try this medium-sweet Madeira with stews, lamb and game dishes with sweet elements and spices such as cinnamon, cloves, cardamom and fennel. …

1982 Offley Port
Boa Vista Single Quinta Vintage Port
90 Points fortheloveofport.com
Reviews
1982 was a year that saw a few producers choosing to declare instead of 1983. Decanted almost 9 hours, what started out as a very sweet VP has slowly changed to a drier profile with lots of leather, no shortage of violets, light tannins still peaking through, and dried cherries on the finish. The palate is showing far more mature than the dark ruby color, this is quite the enjoyable

1982 Chateau Cos d'Estournel
St Estephe, 2nd Growth Classification
Review by Robert Parker... "A spectacular performance for this wine, Cos d'Estournel's 1982 exhibits a dark ruby/purple color with light pink at the rim. Sweet aromas of jammy black fruits intermixed with roasted espresso and vanillin jump from the glass of this young, concentrated, full-bodied, succulent effort. An opulent texture, low acidity, and splendidly pure, concentrated, blackberry and cassis fruit suggest this 1982 can be drunk now, or cellared for another 15-20 years. An awesome wine!" 1982 Chateau Malescot St-Exupery
Margaux 3me Cru Classe
Deep garnet hue turning mahogany. A ripe nose: raspberry, cooked meat and leather. Quite intense though it tails off in the glass. The palate is better than expected. Medium-bodied, nice balance though lacking any Margaux typicity (this more like a Saint Julien.) Irony. Pretty yet simple. Clean finish though herbaceous. To my great surprise, the wine improved the following day, becoming more harmonious and cohesive. Perhaps decanting and letting this wine rest is advisable.
