We are excited to offer the ‘Library Release’ of Quinta do Vesúvio 1995 Vintage Port. This extraordinary wine was produced in the seventh year of Symington ownership and marks the year that Charles Symington joined the company to work alongside his father, Peter, the world-renowned winemaker.

This exclusive parcel of Vesúvio 1995 has been given the term ‘Library Release’ to indicate the bottles have matured in perfect conditions in the family’s cellars. These cellar-release bottles have been individually assessed and carefully recorked to guarantee quality.

The label of this inaugural Quinta do Vesúvio Library Release has been redesigned to distinguish it from the initial en primeur release. …

Late Bottled Vintage(LBV)

Late Bottled Vintage Ports are produced from the grapes of a single harvest; the vintage of which will be stated on the label, and can be either filtered or Unfiltered (formerly called 'Traditional'). The year of bottling will also appear, typically on the back label of the bottle. LBVs are bottled between the 4th and 6th year after harvest and typically spend those years in very large oak barrels, which are called Tonnels.

Tasting notes
This 30-year-old tawny from Taylor's own vineyards shows incredible length a deep, old gold colour with hints of dried fruit and honey offsetting the rich nutty aromas. Lush, silky richness with an elegant, slightly austere quality which is quite distinctive. Subtle dried fruit flavours underly, exotic layers of caramel and nuts culminating in an endless finish.

St Julien 2me Cru Classe

The 1995 Château Léoville Poyferré is a benchmark example of mature Left Bank Bordeaux from a vintage that has aged with quiet confidence. The Chateau Potensac 1995 has plenty of cassis, leaf and cedar to begin with. The wine is fresh and gains in the glass. The 1995 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva Quinta do Poço do Lobo is unoaked and comes in at 13.5% alcohol. This Reserva has more power than the regular reds and much riper fruit. It is bigger and fresher in every respect. Intense and powerful, this is nuanced by cassis and red fruits. It ends with a big finish. There are some typical nuances of aging Cab too. So, while it is fresh for its age, it hardly tastes like a young red. Many will consider that a good thing. …
