The company behind this Armagnac owns one of the most important stocks of old vintages in the whole region. They are growers as well as distillers and specialise in sourcing and ageing old casks of Armagnac.

Armagnac is made from a blend of Baco and Ugni Blanc, the predominant grapes used in the production of Armagnac. The distillation takes place in a column still to an alcohol strength of about 54%. Chateau Musar, 1978

Bekaar Valley, Gaston Hochar

The 1978 Musar is a blend of Cinsault, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache and Carignan from this well-known and highly regarded Lebanese winery.

"A delicate nose showed perfume and black currants. It was certainly in tune with very nice fruit and good acidity. A beautiful, mature Claret that fell short of classic. Harmonious " Cellar Tracker Review Average 91 Points,

Chateau Musar is often referred to as the Lafite of the Lebanon. Wine maker Gaston Hochar defied the odds producing a string of great wines during the Lebanon War. Musar has assumed legendary status. Complex, long-lived and endlessly varied, in some vintages it seems more like a Burgundy, in others a Bordeaux, in still others a Hermitage.

1977 Armagnac, 1977

Baron de Sigognac

In armagnac, legend has it that, one day long ago, baron de sigognac took all the traditional clocks out of his cellars. fascinated by the mystery surrounding the way armagnac ages, he had some very strange timepieces made. on these clocks, the face had ten divisions instead of twelve. the seconds had become years, the big hand moved only once a decade and the hour hand marked the centuries.
Baron de sigognac had found the core of the mystery of armagnac…
The legend adds that, with time, baron de sigognac came to trust only his palate in telling the age of an armagnac. the clocks were left unwound.

Janneau, 1975

Armagnac 1975 Vintage (Includes presentation box as shown)

The great vintages or millésimés of Janneau are the expression of a single year, most commonly of a single cask. Produced exclusively with the single distillation process, they are the quintessence of this precious distillate aged over the years. Each vintage expresses its unique character. These vintages are bottled at the alcohol level in which they naturally come out of the cask. There is a sharp contrast between the sweet and sour flavours of wood, amplified by the strong alcoholic degree. Rich palate feeling the alcohol and the concentration of dry plums, spicy with persistent flavour of rancio and of spices, but round, soft and long in the finish.

Carinena, 1972

Don Ramon - Suso Perez

Carinena is just one of several DO titles used for the wines of Aragon, northern Spain. Winemaking in the area dates back to at least Roman times, and records from that era confirm that locals drank Carinena wines mixed with honey. Many other historical records attest to the quality of the wines from Carinena; King Ferdinand I of Aragon listed it as his preferred wine above all others and the French philosopher Voltaire thought it heavenly. Wine has long been the economic mainstay of the region and a source of great pride and renown.

Barolo, 1970

Grasso Alessio & Figli - Cascina Luciani

Barolo is known as the 'king of wines' and is made from the Nebbiolo grape. Heady aromas of rose, leather, vanilla, cherry, pepper, cranberry, strawberry. Fruits are perfectly knitted with the tannins and acidity. It's a powerful wine but remarkably subtle. Don't underestimate it and certainly serve it with food to show at it's best. Nebbiolo has naturally high tannins and acidity, so it will take on full-flavoured, rich foods no problem at all.
