Baron de Sigognac, 1956

Armagnac (Comes in original wooden box as illustrated)

Baron de Sigognac 1956 Vintage Armagnac has a beautiful amber colour with gold highlights. There is a delicate nose with an impressive wealth of aromas, where the light scents of pink grapefruit and apricot meet the clear aromas of dried fruits and cinnamon. A true olfactory pleasure. Mouth is as wonderful as nose, and delicately develops a marriage of crystallized citrus fruits and roasted coffee aromas, before merging in a beautiful and long finish of vanilla rancio.

Chateau Yquem, 1956

Sauternes Premiere Grand Cru Classe

Considered as the greatest white wine in the world, Château d'Yquem, located on a small hill, enjoys a microclimate and an exceptional terroir. The vineyard, which has no fewer than 150 parcels of different soil, is cherished throughout the year, each vine receives an average of 50 treatments per year. The selection is particularly rigorous for the grand vin of château d'Yquem: it is often said that a vine produces only one glass of wine . The harvest is carried out through at least four passes (seven in 1997!) to harvest the grapes at perfect ripeness, with the noble rot.

1955 Burmester Port

Colheita Port

We are delighted to offer a UK exclusive on Burmester Colheita Ports.

Reviews:
"(2015) Lovely dark caramel colour, with some truffle and tea notes, edges of olive and green fruits (fig). The maturity on the palate is obvious, again with fabulous sweetness and brown sugar richness, Muscovado and walnuts, but the hallmark of the fresh orange and lemon acidity plays against that and the coffee and walnut cake sweetness and richness." Vintage Port
Unlabelled | Embossed Capsule | Mid-High Shoulder
Clearance | Was 295 | Now £150

Popped and decanted for three hours. This is a great bottle of old port. The 1955 Cockburn's retains subtle fruitiness along with toffee, smoke, and dark chocolate notes. All of the flavors were melded together and the port was slightly sweet without even a trace of alcohol. Great port!

Vintage Port (No Label, Vintage on Capsule, Mid-shoulder Level)

"An opage blockbuster when young, astringent and unready up until the early 1980's. In the early 1990's still fairly deep coloured; a vast, deep, high-toned, spicy nose, fairly sweet, full bodied packed with fruit extract and tannin and acidity.." Marcus Bent ****

Sherry, 1951

Harvey's No. 2 Medium/Amoroso Sherry
Bottled in 1951 - Level Mid Shoulder

This amoroso sherry wine, was bottled in 1951. An intense sherry that balances sweet and bitter notes with hints of nuts and oranges.

A touch of Pedro Ximénez added to a dry oloroso results in this type of sherry known as “amoroso.” Translated into English as loving or affectionate, the name pays tribute to the smoothness obtained during the lengthy and traditional ageing period. Its alcohol content and body mean that it can be served on the rocks.

Serving Suggestion:
Enjoy around 15 degrees Celsius with blue cheese or desserts.

Chateau Latour, 1950

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe (High shoulder)

Established around 1680, the Chateau Latour estate is one of the oldest of the Medoc. At the heart of the estate, the principal parcel named "L'Enclos" is 47 hectares of the oldest vines that are preciously maintained because only they are able to give birth to the "Grand Vin". The wine of Chateau Latour is an example of consistent excellence, no matter the vintage. Firm, tannic and concentrated in its youth, it needs a long cellaring to reveal all of its profoundness, strength and extraordinary richness. At perfect maturity, the wine distinguishes itself by an incredible bouquet of black currant, hazelnut and leather.

Chateau Lafite Rothschild, 1948

Pauillac Grand Cru Classe

Mature mahogany colour, a little cloudy. Plenty of glycerine, unctuous and creamy port like texture, but without the sweetness, which one could expect given that 1948 wasn’t a very ripe vintage. It kept getting better in the glass.

Sherry, 1946

New

Bodegas Toro Albaia Don PX Convento Seleccion, Montilla
In own case with tasting vial.

100 Points - Wine advocate
Reviews:
The 1946 Don PX Convento Seleccion produced with Pedro Ximenez grapes dehydrated under the sun at the time of the Second World War, was only bottled in September 2011. This is an extreme wine, my first descriptor was ultra-mega-super concentrated. It is unbelievably powerful, both in the nose and the palate, full of umami, with sweet cinnamon, Christmas cake, camphor, petrol, lemongrass, Belgian chocolate and butter. Incredibly complex and rich, sweet, balanced and smooth in the palate, it is both very sweet and somehow salty, and with time it develops a black olive note.

Graham's Port, 1945

Vintage Port (very top shoulder - labelled)

Wine Legends by Decanter magazine: Graham’s Vintage Port 1945.
Tasting Notes

Graham's 1945 is consistently, in my experience, the best of that magnificent vintage. ... The 1945 was fully mature, amber rim, pungent yet fragrant, still sweet, fabulous flavour and interminable length. An appropriate, much appreciated five-star Port. Score: 5 Stars

Richebourg, 1945

Grand Cru, Vosne-Romanée

Richebourg is one of the six grand cru sites in the hallowed village of Vosne-Romanée, in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits. It is one of the larger sites in the village, and is famous for its full-bodied, muscular style of Pinot Noir. Richebourg wines are in fact some of the most opulent from Vosne-Romanée, exhibiting earthy characters along with dense fruit, and they are capable of being cellared for many years.
