An extremely rare 1911 White Port wine made from grapes grown at Bom Retiro by the family owning the quinta prior to its sale to Ramos Pinto in 1919. The oldest vintage in the family reserves is 1860.

All original bottles were recorked in 2022 by Luis Sottamayor (cellar master of Ferreira). Each bottle has a branded cork with: 'Recorked 2022 Bom Retiro.

A rare port from 1910. The capsule is stamped Lockwood Bentley Brewery 1910. This would be the bottler. The shipper is presumed to be Offley as they were the only shipper who are known to have declared the 1910 vintage. Fill levels are top shoulder or very top shoulder.

Colheita Port should be stored in a cool and dry place, sheltered from light and temperature fluctuations, and the bottle should remain in an upright position. If stored correctly, Colheita Ports will keep for decades in the bottle. Over time, it is natural that a little sediment will form at the bottom of a bottle of colheita Port wine. Once opened colheita Port should be stored in a fridge and should be consumed within 3 months. Colheita Ports do not require decanting and are best served at a temperature between 14 and 16°C. …

These bottles were part of a number found buried in the palace of Val-Flor when it was occupied by the state during the revolution of 1975. Tall flute shaped bottles, these are believed to have been bottled from cask in 1946. Decanted and re-waxed in 1979 to remove sediment. labels are marked with the initials VF of the Marquis of Val-Flor an aristocratic connoisseur, for whom the port was bottled.

Ne Oublie, DOC Douro

The Symington family has released 656 bottles of a Port that dates back to the arrival of their great-grandfather Andrew James Symington in Portugal in 1882.

The family have named this wine ‘Ne Oublie’ after the original Graham’s family motto and for the company where Andrew Symington started his life’s work. The name reflects the respect with which the family regard their great-grandparents’ joint decision to commit themselves and their descendants to Portugal, to the Douro and to Port.

Now 130 years later his direct descendants have bottled one of the remaining three barrels. The other two barrels have been entrusted to the next generation of the family and it is they who will decide their future, in 2025 at the earliest. …

Cristiano van Zeller (ex Quinta do Noval) discovered the 1880 Port in 1999 at a winery in Regua (River Douro) that was closing following the death of the owner. Cristiano was interested in acquiring stone lagares (foot treading tanks) for his new winery but they also asked if he was interested in any old stock. Most was uninteresting but at the rear of the winery were three 20,000 litre casks, two empty but one containing 10,000 litres of 1880 port, 10,000 litres having evaporated during the intervening 119 years. This Port wine is one of the oldest available in the world! The wine was produced in 1858 by Domingos Ayres de Mattos (1829-1890) and kept in bottles in the cellar of his residence, “Casa de Cima”. Domingos’ son Antonio Ayres de Mattos (1879-1956), father of the current owners of this family owned business, was aware of the wine’s exceptional quality and (possibly motivated by sentimental reasons), wanted to leave the destiny of such a ‘treasure’ to his heirs. The wines were tasted in 1969 and again in 2013 for quality control. Almost the entire stock was found to be in perfect condition. ​The 1983 Taylor's Vintage Port is a distinguished example from one of the most esteemed Port houses, reflecting the unique characteristics of that year's growing season. The winter of 1982/83 was notably cold, with February bringing rare snowfall to Pinhão, a phenomenon not seen in two decades. Despite a cold August, a hot September provided favorable conditions for the harvest, which commenced on October 3rd. The 1980 Dows Vintage Port has a very dark red/black centre, dark red to brown rim. On the nose there are creamy, blackberries and black cherries, slightly herbal notes (good), smoke and wet stone, sweet. The Dow 1980 has a very complex palate, maturity, red currants and black cherries, herbs and smoked meats, in the middle acidity and tannin (still!), great length - 60 seconds plus of blackberries and plums. This is an extraordinary Dow.

Purple fading to red and finally pink at the rim. Rich blackberries on the nose along with very faint stewed strawberries. The tannins were powerful on Christmas day but mellowed some by the next evening. The blackberries carried through as a prominent flavor, but added a sourish note almost like a sour cherry. The finish starts out with a rich butter cookie note, but then quickly switches to grape stem.

1975 was a declared vintage and the vintage ports have a lighter style. The 1975 Sandeman is well above average, represents good value and has a good provenance. It is a pale ruby colour. Morello cherries, black berries and liquorice on the nose which has a slightly roasted quality. Slightly treacle like on the palate, with notes of honey and mocha.
