Cognac, 1935

Harveys Grand Champagne Cognac
Bottled in 1964

This rare vintage Cognac was distilled in 1935 and matured for almost three decades in oak casks before being bottled in 1964 by Harveys of Bristol. Drawn from the chalky soils of Grande Champagne – the finest cru of Cognac – it offers a remarkable glimpse into a pre-war spirit that has rested in glass for over 60 years.

On the nose, the Cognac opens with deep aromas of dried apricot, fig and orange peel, layered with walnut, polished oak, and a touch of cigar box. There is an immediate sense of maturity, with soft rancio notes adding savoury depth.

The palate is supple and mellow, carrying flavours of candied fruits, roasted nuts, and gentle spice, balanced by a subtle honeyed sweetness.

Cognac

Chairman's Exceedingly Old and Rare Champagne Cognac
believed to be bottled by A. Hardy

This ultra rare cognac was imported by Eldridge Pope & Co., a traditional UK brewer based in Dorchester, Dorset, established in 1837. The brewery closed in July 2003.

The cognac is believed to be bottled by A. Hardy as Eldridge and Pope were sourcing their cognac from this historic producer.

With a history dating back to 1863, Cognac Hardy is well known for quality cognacs and traditional production methods. Passed down throughout the generations, this family house of cognac, which can be recognized by its rooster logo, was one of the very first to embrace the spoils of a worldwide distribution network.

Cognac Des Tuileries, Non Vintage

Grande Champagne Reserve Cognac (75cl)

A good Cognac is subjected to a complex manufacturing process. It is never made from the eau-de-vie of a single cru, but from a `marriage' of eaux-de-vie that vary in age and cru - some as old as a hundred. To establish the age of a Cognac, only the number of years spent in oak casks or barrels are taken into account. As soon as an eau-de-vie is decanted into a glass recipient, it ceases to age. The longer it is left to age, the more a Cognac gains in complexity, fragrance, aromas and taste (spiced, pepper and cinnamon flavours).

Alcoholic Strength by volumes 35° Gay Lussac. Fully matured in wood before bottling.
