Chateau Yquem, 1969
Sauternes 1er Grand cru Classe
Half Bottle
*** 94 Points Cellar Tracker ***
Reviews
"There is always a high level of star gazing when a bottle of old Yquem shows up. Even an ok bottle like this makes you feel a million bucks. Dark caramel in colour. Apricots on the nose, sweet glycerin. On the palate it is well evolved full of ripe fruit, botrytis and although it is low in vitality it still makes for a superb experience. We can not be unbiased to the star gazing here but this is a good 94" CellarTracker.com

Luigi Bosca
A 1969 vintage Italian wine from Dolcetto. A native black grape variety of Northern Italy grown almost exclusively in the provinces of Cuneo and Alessandria in Piedmont. It is relatively easy to cultivate, although it is susceptible to fungal diseases. It ripens before Barbera and Nebbiolo and is often grown in high north-facing sites which would be unsuitable for Nebbiolo. The finest Dolcetto wines come from grapes grown on soils rich with white marls, especially those found on the right bank of the River Tauro. The wines generally are low in tannins and acidity and are usually fruity and fragrant, often with hints of almonds. …

Tasted by our wine buyer at the Sandeman 20 Vintage Tasting November 2013. "Tawny rim; good nose, some cigar, spice and chocolate, dried fruit. Barolo, 1968
Giuseppe Contratto
Barolo is known as the 'king of wines' and is made from the Nebbiolo grape. Heady aromas of rose, leather, vanilla, cherry, pepper, cranberry, strawberry. Fruits are perfectly knitted with the tannins and acidity. It's a powerful wine but remarkably subtle. Don't underestimate it and certainly serve it with food to show at it's best. Nebbiolo has naturally high tannins and acidity, so it will take on full-flavoured, rich foods no problem at all.

Blandys Madeira, 1968
Sercial Madeira (75cl Bottle)
Blandy’s Vintage Sercial 1968 is a single harvest Madeira. This wine was aged for 38 years in seasoned American oak casks in the traditional ‘Canteiro’ system, whereby the casks were gradually transferred from the top floors of the lodge, where it is naturally warmer, to the middle floors and eventually to the ground floor where it is cooler. The wine was regularly racked and when it reached the desired stage of maturity it was bottled.
Only a limited number of bottles of this wine were released. Vintage (or Frasquiera) Madeira must be aged in cask for a minimum of 20 years, in practise they are aged for much longer, before being bottled under Madeira Wine Institute supervision. …
