Chateau Latour, 1977

Pauillac, 1st growth Classification
top shoulder

A very rare 1977 first growth wine - the bottles have been stored well and the condition is good. Probably the best wine of a poor Bordeaux vintage. Cellar Tracker reviews mention notes of earthy, mushroom truffles. There are some recommendations not to decant (open and reseal).

Reviews
Magnum . For me, the star of the evening. So complete, so much at the height of its powers, so dense yet fresh.I couldn't help thinking of that ad for menthol cigarettes - 'pure as mountain stream' was the slogan, wasn't it? Sweet and richly flattering without being remotely heavy. It's possible that in bottle sizes this wine is much more developed. Jancis Robinson

"Unquestionably the best wine produced in the Medoc in 1967, the Latour has dark ruby color with some browning at the edges, a medium- to full-bodied feel, plenty of black currant fruit, and some light, soft tannins still present.

Reviews:
"This is an utterly delicious wine! A languid, almost sedate bouquet whose charms creep up on you, with macerated black cherries, clear honey, blackcurrant wine gums, glycerol and a touch of rose petal, strafed with breathtaking delineation, the palate is full-bodied, exuding a sense of controlled opulence. Cashmere tannins, quite glossy and plush with immense purity and class. Rounded towards the finish with sweet black cherries mixed with summer fruits, great tension and poise. I doubt I will ever encounter a finer example of this wine.

Chateau Latour, 1961

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe
Half Bottle
**100 Points Robert Parker**

The 1961 Latour is a wine legend!
Michael Broadbent rated it as one of his rare six-star wines, Robert Parker has consistently given it 100 points. This is a rare half bottle in good condition with a great level.

The 1961 crop was a small one, frost in May having wiped out most of the Merlot. The Latour team took pride in having picked – unlike some other properties – before excessive ripeness set in, allowing a perfectly balanced and appetising wine to be produced. The disastrous conditions in May meant that the crop was very small, and from the outset the château reported that the wines were dark, rich, ripe and incredibly concentrated but perfectly balanced.

Chateau Latour, 1959

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe -
High shoulder- Bin soiled label
**98 Points-Wine Advocate**

Château Latour is one of Bordeaux's – and the world's – most famous wine producers. It is situated in the southeast corner of the Pauillac commune on the border of Saint-Julien, in the Médoc region. Rated as a First Growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, it has become one of the most sought-after and expensive wine producers on the planet, and produces powerfully structured Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant wines capable of lasting many decades.

Dark garnet with an amber edge, the 1959 Latour reveals a touch of volatile acidity in the nose, along with aromas of melted caramel, tobacco, and jammy red and black fruits.

Chateau Latour, 1953

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe (In Neck, Tear on label)

*90-93 points -Critics' score Aggregated*

Exciting that this was very much intact. Great color for a sixty year old. Probably at the beginning of a decline curve - but aging gracefully. Smooth and gentle, but retaining its essential body, acidity, and identity. Aromas and flavors were classic aged Pauillac. Touches of cinnamon and clove over red fruit, cigar box, leather and a plush velvet texture. Ultimately this had astonishing strength and character. More grace than power at this stage of life. This is one classy old wine!

Chateau Lascombes, 2004

Margaux 2nd Growth Classification

Reviews for 2004 Chateau Lascombes
A candidate for one of the top wines of the vintage, Lascombes has turned in a brilliant effort with a deep ruby/purple color as well as gorgeous aromas of plums, cassis, black cherries, and flowers. It boasts a terrific texture, medium to full body, an expansive, multi-layered mid-palate and a tremendously pure finish revealing nicely integrated wood, acidity, alcohol, and tannin. This is a beauty of precision and power..

Chateau Larmande, 1997

Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Bordeaux

The 1997 Chateau Larmande is evolved but still wonderfully vibrant and expressive St. Émillion. that feels like it is slowly approaching its plateau of maturity. The fruit has developed some tertiary characteristics, but there is still quite a bit of vibrant fruit left and the tannins come across as quite assertive and grippy, even after all these years. Very good value.

Château Larmande Saint-Émilion Grand Cru estate that dates back to 1585, which makes it one of the oldest in the appellation. Claire Thomas-Chenard runs the estate

Chateau La Pointe, 1975

Pomerol

The 1975 Chateau La Point has a mature colour; lovely Merlot-fruit, cherries, slightly buttery, but also a clear minerally touch; refreshing acidity and typical 1975-tannins. The wine has a good length with dried fruit. The wine is a good expression of the vintage and is fully mature.

Reviews
"This potential sleeper of the vintage has come around nicely now that it is in bottle. Elegant yet substantial, it exhibits a dense purple color as well as a sweet bouquet of black currants, cassis, cedarwood, herbs, toast and loamy soil undertones. Medium to full-bodied with sweet tannin (a component that was not evident from barrel), it should drink nicely for 15 or more years" Robert Parker, Wine Advocate 2011.
