Niepoort Port, 2005

Colheita Port (Comes in Niepoort carton gift box as illustrated)

The small port shipping house of Niepoort has been handcrafting outstanding ports since 1842. Dirk Niepoort is currently the fifth generation of the family to personally oversee every wine which leaves the famous lodge in Vila de Gaia. Their extraordinary reputation is founded on a commitment to ancient vineyards, still treading most of their grapes in old granite ‘lagares' and bottling without filtration. As such, they remain regarded by many as the guardians of authentic port production.

Colheita ports are the products of a single year – in
this case 2005 - but are aged far longer in traditional casks.

Chateau Lafite Rothschild, 2004

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe,

An excellent 2004 vintage bordeaux wine. Only 39% of production was used for the Grand Vin and with a whopping 90.5% Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend (the balance being 9% Merlot and 0.5% Petit Verdot) the 2004 Lafite needed little introduction. This wine has one of the most exciting noses - intense, spicy, pure cassis and a generous helping of creamy vanilla. The palate is just as exciting, exhibiting terrific concentration and a hint of warm new oak which leads to an intense, linear core of lively blackcurrants and layers of intriguing minerality. The Cabernet was very evident on the finish with the variety's characteristically firm tannins taking over at the end, making this one for the long term.

Chateau Mouton Rothschild, 2004

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe

A 2004 vintage bordeaux wine. Prince Charles agreed that the label for Mouton Rothschild 2004 could be illustrated with one of his watercolours, inspired by a French landscape, in celebration of the 1904 Entente Cordiale. He has added in his own handwriting also to the label.

Reviews:
*** 94 Points - In Asia ***
"Deep garnet-black. There’s a wonderful purity of fruit on the nose with aromas of warm blackcurrant, dark cherries, dark chocolate, anise, cinnamon and a waft of cedar. The palate is relatively rich with a medium to full body and a good amount of ripe, mouth-filling fruit. Medium+ level of velvety tannins and medium+ acidity provide nice balance.

Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port, 2004

Vintage Port - SINGLE BOTTLE

** 94/100 Points - Wine Enthusiast ***

A 2004 vintage port wine. Only 1100 Cases made in 2004. The 2004 Vesuvio has an opaque, inky purple colour. The excellent ripeness of the grapes and the relatively high Baumés allowed for longer fermentations, producing wines of exceptional concentration, depth of colour and tannic structure. It has a fragrant nose of violets and layers of rich blackberry fruit on the palate, making it irresistible for broaching young, although the wine will age for decades.

Chateau La Lagune, 2003

Haut Medoc, 3rd Growth Classification

An outstanding 2003 bordeaux wine from Chateau La Lagune.
"The 2003 and offerings from La Lagune are the finest back-to-back vintages they have produced in over fifteen years. Kudos to the Frey family, who also purchased the Rhone Valley flagship firm of Paul Jaboulet-Aine in 2005. Their daughter, Caroline Frey, is the oenologist at La Lagune. The sexy, up-front, evolved 2003 La Lagune exhibits a dark ruby/purple hue as well as big nose of cedar, spice box, black cherry jam, licorice, and smoke. Savory, broad, ripe, and low in acidity, it is a total hedonistic and intellectual turn-on. Enjoy it now or cellar it for 15+ years.

Chateau Mouton Rothschild, 2002

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe

A vintage 2002 Bordeaux Wine from Château Mouton Rothschild.

*** 93 Points Robert Parker ***

"Dense purple to the rim, this wine exhibits the classic cassis aroma that is so characteristic of Mouton. Medium to full-bodied, tannic, powerful, and cut somewhat from the 1988 mold, this is a backward, chewy, well-endowed Mouton-Rothschild that will require considerable patience from those who purchase it. A blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot, the wine needs a good decade of cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2030+." Robert Parker, Wine Advocate 2005.

Chateau Lafite Rothschild, 2001

Pauillac, 1st Growth Classification

*** 94 Points - Robert parker ***
*** 96 Points - Neil Martin ***

Reviews:
The 2001 Lafite Rothschild’s deep, saturated plum/purple color is accompanied by lead pencil liqueur-like notes intermixed with sweet red and black currants, plums, and cedar. This blend of 86.5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13.5% Merlot is a classic example of Lafite. Extremely elegant, medium-bodied, with intense concentration, richness, and sweet tannin, it appears to be on a rapid evolutionary track, at least in comparison to recent Lafite vintages that have been far more backward and powerful. The classy 2001 should be at its finest between 2007-2020.

Chateau Mouton Rothschild, 2001

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe

"Lifted blackberry, autumn leaf, cedar and a touch of fresh tobacco, the mintiness enhanced by continued aeration. The palate is very tight and slightly pinched at the moment, the tannins a little harder and less fine than Lafite, the finish slightly chalky and foursquare in texture. Personally, I prefer the 2002 to the previous year, but it is still a decent, mid-weight Pauillac that would show better with cuisine. Drink 2013-2025. Tasted November 2010." Dolcetto, 2000

Monferrato - Cantina San Mateo - Borgo Lame

A native black grape variety of Northern Italy grown almost exclusively in the provinces of Cuneo and Alessandria in Piedmont. It is relatively easy to cultivate, although it is susceptible to fungal diseases. It ripens before Barbera and Nebbiolo and is often grown in high north-facing sites which would be unsuitable for Nebbiolo. The finest Dolcetto wines come from grapes grown on soils rich with white marls, especially those found on the right bank of the River Tauro. The wines generally are low in tannins and acidity and are usually fruity and fragrant, often with hints of almonds.

Dow's Port

Dow's 20 Year Old Tawny Port in (Own box as seen in image)

Dow's 20 Year Old Tawny Port was relaunched in 2019, after an absence from the market for a number of years. For many the perfect age for a great Tawny Port. The vibrant purple colour of a great young Port has softened to a delicate green-gold after 20 long years in seasoned oak casks under the watchful eye of the master blender and the Dow’s head lodge man. On the palate, Dow’s Twenty Years Old Tawny is perfectly balanced, with notes of dried nuts and spice. One of the greatest wines a Port blender can make.

Kopke Port

Kopke 20 Year Old Tawny Port

Aged in wood casks until they are completely mature, Tawny ports are a golden colour with multi-dimensional layers of aromas and flavours. The domination of Vintage Ports in past years is now challenged by the advantages of the tawnies, especially vintage colheita tawnies for restaurants and retail consumers. Where vintage ports have immediate air shock upon opening the bottle wherein they were aged and have a shelf life of only a few hours to a week; tawny ports have had air working on them through the cask during all the years of ageing, giving them a open-life of a month or longer. Lighter and more delicate than vintage ports,
