Sandeman Vintage Port, Non Vintage

Cask 33 Limited Edition Old Tawny Port

Sandeman’s Cask 33 is a single cask of Tawny Porto that is being launched to coincide with the celebration of Sandeman’s 225 years in 2015. The port includes wines of up to 70 years old that have been created by different generations of Sandeman master benders.

This release is a limited edition of only 685 bottles. The bottle design reproduces the style of those bottles originally used at the time of the founder in 1790 and are hand blown by one of Portugal’s last great artisanal bottle works.

Each year the winemaking team taste all the wines on the aging inventory, and when necessary, make adjustments in keeping with the house style.

Sherry, Non Vintage

Very Old Bottled Palo Cortado
Bottled by Smallwood and Sons Ltd

A wine of great complexity which combines the delicate bouquet of an Amontillado with the body and palate of an Oloroso. Chestnut to mahogany in colour with a complex bouquet which harmonises the characteristic notes of Amontillados and Olorosos, citric notes reminiscent of bitter orange and lactic notes suggestive of fermented butter. It has a deep, rounded, ample palate with smooth, delicate aromatic notes appearing in the aftertaste, leading to delicious lingering finish.

Palo Cortado is an intermediate type of sherry and probably the most ambiguous of them all. This is fuelled by the vague

Sherry, Non Vintage

Williams & Humbert, Old East India No.15

A 1960's Williams & Humbert bottling, Old East India sherry. East India sherry is a sweetened Oloroso. The name refers to the East India Company, a British trading company that transported cotton, silk, spices, tea, saltpetre and other commodities from the East Indies. As a fortified wine (which lasted longer), sherry was taken along as ballast and to serve the ship’s crew on its transatlantic journey.

Oloroso means fragrant and the best examples will display dried fruits, leather, polished wood and exotic spices.

Sherry

Dry Amontillado
Emilio Lustau "Los Arcos"

This dry Sherry has a beautiful amber colour. Clear and bright in appearance. It is intense and elegant on the nose with saline nuances and a trace of toasted hazelnuts. Excellent balance and structure with a long finish. The typical dryness of amontillado sherry stands out and highlights its complexity. Lingering and satisfying aftertaste.

Serving Suggestion:
Enjoy at 12-13 Celsius degrees either with a traditional Amontillado pairing such as artichoke dishes or if you are adventurous try red tuna ceviche.

It has long been a tradition for special occasions to be marked by the laying down of vintage port from the year of the event. Problematically, due to the fact that a vintage year is normally only declared in the second year after the harvest, the recipient of the gift often has to remain empty handed until sometime after the celebration.

Graham's are the first port company to overcome this problem,

Quinta do Vesuvio, 2019

New

Vintage Port (6 x 75cl)
En Primeur Offer
In Bond Offer
Delivery Autumn 2021

The 2019 Quinta Vintage Ports are the result of an erratic growing season, with a little over 50% of the average winter rainfall in the Douro and almost none in the summer. Fortunately, showers at the end of August helped the grapes achieve more balanced maturations. Head Winemaker, Charles Symington, exercised patience and precisely timed the picking over six weeks – making it one of the longest harvests in recent years. The reward was a collection of perfectly ripe grape varieties in good quantities (averaging 1.27 kg/vine) delivering lively and exuberant wines. This was in contrast to the concentration of the exceptionally small years in 2017 and 2018.

Chateau Giscours, 2012

Margaux, 3rd Growth Classification

Reviews for the 2012 Chateau Giscours

The plump, rich and densely purple-colored 2012 Giscours, has turned out very well in this vintage, offering loads of fruit. A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, it has a moderate finish, and is medium to full-bodied, with excellent licorice and crème de cassis notes, and a broad, round, juicy mouthfeel. This is a wine that can be drunk young or cellared for 12-15 years. Drink: 2015 - 2030.
Score: 90 Robert Parker, Wine Advocate (218), April 2015

This deep, dark ruby-colored effort reveals developed and forward notes of licorice, roasted herbs, sweet black currants, incense and a touch of smoky barbecue/oaky characteristics.

Chateauneuf du Pape, 2009

Clos La Roquete Frederick and daniel Brunier

Fragrant on the nose, with notes of red berries and a touch of spice. The palate is attractive, with hedgerow fruit notes balanced by a pleasing freshening acidity and a hint of Mediterranean herb. Rounded and well balanced , this is a great example of the elegance of Châteauneuf-du-Pape in this vintage.

Chateau Batailley, 2007

Pauillac, 5th Growth Classification

The 2007 Batailley offers attractive pencil box and cedar scents on the nose, showing more black fruit than the Lynch Moussas, greater sense of purpose. The palate is medium-bodied with fine definition and pleasant weight in the mouth, focused and classic in style that is typical of this estate, and it finishes with satisfying details and persistence. This has long been a strong, perhaps underappreciated performer of the vintage. It is drinking now but it will continue to give pleasure over 10-15 years. Tasted February 2017.

** 90-92 Points (Outstanding ) Robert Parker ***

Reviews:
"Deep ruby/purple with a wonderful nose of roasted herbs and scorched earth, this wine has sweet cherry and black currant fruit notes along with hints of graphite and toasty oak. While pure, rich, and more powerful than usual, it remains elegant and precise, characteristics of this stylish wine. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2023.

This property is making impressive wines under the new administration of American Robert Wilmers backed up by his winemaking team led by Veronique Sanders. I have consistently had a tendency to underrate the wines young since they are relatively delicate,

Chateauneuf du Pape, 2003

Chateau de Beaucastel

Reviews
The 2003 Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape turned out as well as I could have hoped and is certainly an outstanding wine, deep ruby/purple with a tight but promising nose of black fruits, loamy, earthy notes intermixed with pepper, smoke, licorice, and dried herbs. The wine is somewhat closed in the mouth (but it had been bottled 30 days prior to my visit), has full bodied, moderately high, slightly rustic tannins, but big-impact flavors with plenty of texture, density, and purity. Give this wine 3-5 years of bottle age, and drink it over the following 20 years. Robert Parker, Wine Advocate February 2006

Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou, 2001

Dom Perignon, 1999

Champagne

*** 93 points ***

"Tar and ripe fruit emerge from the glass in a generous, expansive style. This is a relatively simple Dom Perignon, yet the wine possesses outstanding balance and plenty of harmony. According to Chef de Caves Richard Geoffroy the warm vintage also resulted in relatively high yields, and the low-acid style is most reminiscent of the 1976. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2024.
