Barolo, 1981

Damilano

Barolo is known as the 'king of wines' and is made from the Nebbiolo grape. Heady aromas of rose, leather, vanilla, cherry, pepper, cranberry, strawberry. Fruits are perfectly knitted with the tannins and acidity. It's a powerful wine but remarkably subtle. Don't underestimate it and certainly serve it with food to show at it's best. Nebbiolo has naturally high tannins and acidity, so it will take on full-flavoured, rich foods no problem at all.

Barolo, 1993

Sylla Sebaste

The Barolo DOCG 1993 Sylla Sebaste is a structured and well-evolved red wine produced in the area of Barolo, in Piedmont. Tasting notes:

The 1993 vintage now shows full tertiary development while still retaining some core fruit character. The bouquet reveals aromas of steeped cherries, ripe plum, dried rose petals, licorice, leather, and tobacco. With aeration, additional layers emerge, including sweet spices, damp earth, forest floor, and subtle balsamic notes.

Barolo, 2001

Gianni Voerzio, Barolo La Serra

The 2001 vintage in Piedmont is widely regarded as a benchmark year for Barolo, combining structure, aromatic precision, and long ageing potential. Gianni Voerzio is known for crafting rich, concentrated yet meticulously balanced wines, often from low yields and careful vineyard management. The La Serra cru, located in La Morra, typically produces more perfumed and approachable expressions of Nebbiolo, and in 2001 it delivers both generosity and classical structure, now beautifully evolved with over two decades of bottle age.
Appearance & Nose
The colour has matured to a luminous garnet with orange-brick reflections at the rim.

Massolino, 2012

Massolino - Barolo Riserva - Vigna Rionda, Piedmont
*** 94 Points- Wine Advocate ***

Vigna Rionda is a unique Barolo, impossible to describe in just a few lines and hard to compare with others, even those from the Serralunga area. A wine capable of complexity, longevity and structure, which come together with unparalleled elegance. A little patience is required for it to reach its full potential, which is why it stays in our cellars until its sixth year, the only wine in our range to do so, when it is released as a Riserva.
We recommend decanting and serving at a temperature of 18-20°C.

The most prominent element in the history of our estate, Vigna Rionda is one of the most sought-after and prestigious crus in the area.

Vietti, 2012

Vietti - Riserva Villero, Piedmont
*** 97 Points- Robert Parker's Wine Advocate ***

RP 97/100
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

This is the 13th edition that Vietti has come out with, over the span of 38 years, of this stunning Riserva, a wine that ultimately is produced only about once every four years or so. It was not made after the previous harvest, in 2011. The recent editions have been nothing short of spectacular, earning 100-point scores in both 2007 and 2009 and 99 points in its latest appearance, 2010. It's a series that has set the bar extraordinarily high, and this 2012 Barolo Riserva Villero is a little less exciting in comparison. However, the wine holds its own as one of the most beautiful in the entire appellation and one of the best in the somewhat lackluster vintage.

Barolo, 2013

Cantine Ascheri Giacomo - Pisapola, Piedmont

Vintage & Background
The 2013 vintage in Barolo is widely celebrated as a classic year, marked by a long, even growing season that allowed Nebbiolo to ripen slowly and develop exceptional aromatic precision and structure. Ascheri’s style tends toward clarity and balance, and in 2013 this results in a wine that combines early approachability with the capacity for graceful ageing.

Appearance & Nose
The wine shows a deep garnet red colour with youthful brightness, just beginning to hint at evolution at the rim.

Vietti, 2013

Vietti - Riserva Villero, Piedmont
99 Points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"The Vietti 2013 Barolo Riserva Villero is a stunning wine, full of life, energy and beautiful complexity. This vintage opens in such a graceful manner, tickling the senses like a feather. With time, that initial softness begins to rise, and the wine grows in aromatic momentum and textural importance to take on magnificent fruit weight. It is soft, caressing and long. Tasted seven years after the harvest, this Riserva is expertly integrated with vibrant primary fruit, tangy acidity and non-intrusive tannins. These elements that make up the grand totality of the wine are carefully contained and chiseled down to a most elegant and beautiful common denominator.
