Description
Armagnac is a distinctive kind of brandy produced in the Armagnac region in Gascony, southwest France. It is distilled from wine usually made from a blend of grapes traditionally using column stills rather than the pot stills used in the production of cognac. The resulting spirit is then aged in oak barrels before release.
This 1942 Armagnac displays notes of orchard fruit and beeswax with subtle traces of red apple, pears and pipe tobacco. The palate entry is loaded with rich, nut-like/nougaty tastes; at midpalate a rush of sweetened tobacco quickly gives way to flavours of dark caramel, honey and oaky vanilla. Finishes with a flurry of caramel, marzipan and nougat notes.
