2019 Claudia White - 90 Points Robert Parker
Winemakers Notes
Most of the wines from the Douro are named after the vineyards where the grapes that make the wine come from. Claudia’s wine is an expression of what Claudia, the winemaker together with Teresa, love most on each harvest. Claudia’s wine is a blend of grapes from different plots. They don’t follow the same recipe every harvest as the vines don’t produce the same grapes every year. One thing we can assure, all our grapes are handpicked and treated as small treasures.

Reviews:
90 Points Mark Squires - Wine Advocate June 2021.
The 2019 Claudia's Branco Reserve is a blend of 33% Viosinho, 23% Fernão Pires, 17% each of Rabigato and Gouveio and the rest Arinto, all aged for eight months in an equal mixture of one-third new French and Hungarian oak. It comes in at 13.3% alcohol. Elegant and fresh, this still has surprising persistence on the very respectable finish. It handles the new wood pretty well, and that should continue to get better. It is not the most concentrated Reserve, but it doesn't feel thin, and it coats the mouth nicely. Overall, this is lovely, and its structure suggests that there is some room for improvement over the next couple of years. It does need to prove it can hold and develop a little to justify my enthusiasm, but it's worth leaning up for the moment.

Messias Sweet White Port
This sweet white port from Messias has a lovely golden colour in the glass and a slight citrus aroma with a hint of wood. Fine and well balanced it is a superb after dinner drink, aperitif or, like they do in Portugal, mix in equal parts to tonic and garnish with a slice of lemon - a refreshing change to G&T

Barbaresco Nervo
This 2017 Barbaresco Nervo red wine is one of the great wines of Italy's north-western Piedmont region. These wines have high acidity and tannin, so they are best after a couple years of ageing. Once they get a few years in bottle, they reveal invigorating aromas of tart cranberries and cherries, cardamom, potpourri, and dry earth. They are generally a lighter reddish orange in colour, but they are not light on flavour. If you ever wished that Pinot Noir had the punch of Cab, this might be the wine for you!

1996 Burmester Vintage Port
This 1996 Burmester Vintage Port from the fabulous 1996 Port Vintage has outstanding provenance! This bottle has been stored at the Burmester cellars on Porto since bottling until it was acquired by us earlier this year.

The 1996 Burmester is a beautiful mature garnet colour. On the nose it has cocoa, chocolate together with a hint of mint. On the palate this is quite complex - medium bodied with a perfect balance between the acidity, tannins and flavours, there is a little spiciness in the mouth that adds to the experience. Long, long finish. This is in a good place and should hold well for the next decade or so. (VWP note - tasting May 2019)
