Graham's Port, 2007

Vintage Port, Douro
Half Bottle
***97 Points Wine Advocate***

***97 Points Wine Advocate***
Reviews: "A candidate for wine of the vintage, the 2007 Graham’s Vintage Port is complete in every way. Opaque purple-colored, it offers up an ethereal perfume of smoke, mineral, Asian spices, incense, an amalgam of ripe black fruits, and a hint of chocolate in the background. This leads to a dense, super-rich, plush, opulent wine that hides its structure under all the fruit. Vibrant, impeccably balanced, and exceptionally lengthy, it will easily age for another 25-30 years in the cellar and drink well through 2050, probably longer. It is a tour de force." Jay Miller, Wine Advocate 2010.

Vintage Port, Douro
Half Bottle

With a massive hedgerow nose and great balance with lovely aromatics and fine tannins the 2007 Smith Woodhouse boxes well above its weight.

Warre's Vintage Port, 2007

Vintage Port, Douro
Half Bottle

93 Points - Wine Advocate.

"The 2007 Warre Vintage Port is one of the stars of the vintage. A glass-coating opaque purple color, it displays an expressive bouquet of Asian spices, incense, lavender, blackberry, and fruitcake. Plush on the palate with outstanding volume, it exhibits a sense of elegance as well as power. Savory flavors, plenty of structure for the long haul, and a lengthy, fruit-filled finish suggests two decades of cellaring are in order. This superb effort should still be drinking well in 2050." Pierre Rovani Wine Advocate.

Kopke, 2003

White Colheita Port, Douro In Kopke branded box
Silver Medal, Decanter 2022

A 2003 vintage Port Wine. The 2003 Kopke White port has a cool, light-amber color. This unique white colheita derives from the traditional white grapes of the Porto e Douro region. Starting with aromas of a Pear Clafouti and burnt sugar, this elegant port delivers luscious flavors of Japanese pear-apple, with accents of hazelnut, nutmeg and orange zest. The lingering grapefruit finish provides the perfect balance for the sweetness.

Food Pairing:
Shows finesse and sophistication when combined with caramel desserts, dried fruits and spices, like caramel fondant with apple and ginger jelly, tatin tart, burnt cream and Cheeses of minimum intensity.

Taylor's Port, 2003

Vintage Port
*** 98 Points Robert Parker ***
Limited Edition Gift Box
The First Port in Space

The 2003 vintage was blessed with warm weather at the end of May, supporting a successful flowering, followed by intense summer heat in early August.
Cooler temperatures arrived in late August, preceding a warm, dry picking season in September, so conditions were almost perfect, and the result is a balanced, complex wine, which has consistently secured high scores from leading wine critics.
‘The Taylor’s 2003 Vintage is one of the most highly acclaimed Port wines of recent decades – a monumental vintage which, to quote celebrated wine authority Robert Parker, will stand proudly shoulder to shoulder with the finest ever crafted by Taylor’s,’ said Bridge.

Taylor's Port, 2001

Quinta de Vargellas Vintage Port

*** 17.5+/20 Wine Doctor ***
*** Decanter magazine: Silver (2001 vintage) ***

A delicious, single estate vintage port showing a deep purple colour and aromas of violets. Good conditions in 2001 led to a marvellously rich and ripe harvest. The palate is big and broad with black fruit flavours, hints of liquorice and stewed fruits. The finish is rich and long. A delicious wine with hard cheeses.

"There was a time when Taylor's release of Vargellas offered a chance to snap up a good value, maturing Port bargain; but in the last few years we seem to have skipped very quickly from the 1988 to the 1998 and now to the 2001 vintages.

J W Hart, 2000

Colheita Port, Douro
Magnum 1.5 Litre

This 2000 J W Hart Tawny Colheita is elegant and complex. An amalgamation of rich flavours is marked by the presence of dried fruits, with a burst of freshness in red cherries enhanced by an exuberant note of spice. Perfect for pairing with an exquisite salted caramel tart.

Colheita Port Storage and Serving Advice:
Colheita Port should be stored in a cool and dry place, sheltered from light and temperature fluctuations, and the bottle should remain in an upright position. If stored correctly, Colheita Ports will keep for decades in the bottle. Over time, it is natural that a little sediment will form at the bottom of a bottle of colheita Port wine.

Taylor's Port, 1996

Quinta de Vargellas Vintage Port

Very typical Taylor's style on the nose, rather reserved, spicy and stylish fruit. Gentle, and a lovely silkiness to at the start. Fine fruit, very stylish composition. Appropriate grip and texture. Lots of tannin evident on a second taste. This is rather good. From a Port Styles tasting. 16.5-17+/20 (Wine Doctor 2007).

Taylor's Port, 1995

Late Bottled Vintage Port
1 Litre Bottle
Rewaxed

Late Bottled Vintage port is from a single year. The wine ages 4-6 years in old oak casks (opposed to Vintage that ages 2-3). LBV fills the gap between the rubies and the vintage ports since a Ruby Port should be drunk quite young and a great Vintage Port may need 15 to 20 years to really open up and show its splendour. This led to the idea in the 1960s to age the wine 4 to 6 years in large casks before bottling it.

LBV's display the style of a Vintage Port with its deep colour and concentration of fruit but with a more mature character caused by the longer ageing in wood.

Croft Port, 1994

Vintage Port
Heavily Bin Soiled Label

Quite meaty, quite a tarry and umami character, nuttiness too over the plummy fruit. Mouth-coating, full, creamy fruitiness and sweetness, a slick of cocoa, spice and quite long. Very lovely and resolved.

Quinta de la Rosa, 1994

Vintage Port

Quinta de La Rosa is a small estate in the heart of the Port wine-growing region in Alto Douro, near Pinhao, owned and operated by the Bergqvist family.

The Quinta and its vineyards were given to the Bergqvist family as a Christening present by the Feuerheerds, who established the property in 1906.

It remains one of the few Single Quinta where the vineyards start at the bank of the Douro and rise 450 meters to the towering top of the mountain. From the river's edge to the top, one passes through 11 different microclimates. This gives La Rosa great flexibility to add variety and complexity to its Ports.

Skeffington Port, 1994

Vintage Port

***91 Points- CellarTracker***

Fourth bottle from a half case purchased ten years ago and in fine fettle. Mature and drinking well now at 22 years of age, still vigorous and with gentle tertiary development in the form of some nutty warmth, ever so slightly stalky on the nose. Core of black cherries and dark chocolate on the palate, medium weight and intensity, light tannins, no excessive alcoholic heat, good length. A solid performance.

Fonseca Port, 1992

Vintage Port

Scoring 97 Parker Points. A magnificent Port

Reviews "Fonseca has scored in both the 1991 and 1992 vintages. The 1992 is a majestic young port that should ultimately rival, perhaps even surpass this house's most recent great efforts (1985, 1977, 1970, 1963). This colossal vintage port reveals a nearly opaque black/purple colour, and an explosive nose of jammy black fruits, liquorice, chocolate, and spices. Extremely full-bodied and unctuously-textured, this multi-layered, enormously-endowed port reveals a finish that lasts for over a minute. It is a magnificent port that will age well for 30-40 years.

Graham's Port, 1991

Vintage Port

*** 94 Points Robert Parker ***

"Graham's 1991 Vintage Port gets my nod as the port of the vintage. While keeping in mind that Graham's aims for a sweeter-styled port, there is no doubting the opaque purple/black colour, or the explosive nose of black fruits, licorice, spring flowers, and tar. Thick and full-bodied, with a satiny texture and a blockbuster, alcoholic finish, this is a top-notch vintage port." Robert Parker, Wine Advocate 1995. Drink now to 2030+

This wine is very aromatic with black cherry, plum, dark chocolate and suede notes. A very silky texture with rich chocolate flavours, liquorice, cloves, and lots of plum. The tannins are soft and integrated and there is a very long, delicious finish. Definitely a beauty!

Graham's Port, 1990

Quinta dos Malvedos

In undeclared years, its wine is bottled as Malvedos, which can be better than many Vintage Ports. The '90 is no exception; surprisingly rich and concentrated, with intense blackberry and plum-like flavours, fine balance and a tannic, long finish. Excellent quality and value". Kopke, 1985

Colheita Port
In Original Kopke presentation box
Special Offer | was £89.95 | Now £79.95

Kopke Port is the oldest port house. Established in 1638 by Nicolau Kopke and his son Cristiano, who came to Portugal as representatives of the Hanseatic League, the House has been run through the generations by several representatives of the Kopke family, obtaining an excellent reputation for its wines.

Review:
The 1985 has a topaz color with glints of fiery orange. The nose of vanilla and toasted almonds leads to buttery rich caramel flavors with hints of dried strawberries, finishing with soft Columbian coffee and pink grapefruit zest.

Colheita, or single harvest ports, are aged in the barrel.

Borges, 1985

Vintage Port

Very pale ruby that fades to a light pink at the edge. The nose is of plums and strawberries. Some nice carmalized flavours along with some very dark (almost overripe) plums, and almost no noticeable heat. The finish is not long, but not clipped either and there is a pleasant aftertaste of dates.

Churchill's Port, 1985

Vintage Port

This has a great colour, still very dense and dark. On the nose there are notes of dried fruit, dried blueberries, juniper berries with a little smoke. This is very nice and certainly has a lot of style. The palate is rich, refined, firm and structured, with a firm backbone of alcohol beneath a creamy midpalate. Reserved yet flavoursome, with more of those juniper berry notes and a deliciously sweet but precisely presented texture, this wine is really coming round very nicely. Fine and balanced, a pleasure to drink.
