Valtellina, 1975
Cantina Coop. Villa

The principal grape variety is Chiavennasca (the local name for Piedmont’s Nebbiolo and an Italian grape varietal that has been cultivated since medieval times here). The DOCG wines are generally comprised of at least 90% Chiavennasca and then blended with other quality local grapes like Brugnola, Rossola, Pignola. Then there is a DOC Valtellina Rosso (also called Rosso di Valtellina DOC) which requires at least 80% of the blend be Chiavennasca and does not have minimum ageing requirements. …

Vino Bosco di Pomposa, 1975
Felloni Rossi
The grafting of the vine in the Valleys probably took place in 1528, when Ercole II Duca d'Este married Renata of France, daughter of Louis XII, who brought as a dowry a vine of the Côte d'Or of Burgundy, the Golden Grape precisely, that it found the perfect habitat in the areas of the Sandy Dunes of the Delta and in the Dossi of the Bosco Eliceo to reproduce at its best, among the holm oaks and delta bushes. The particularly humid, foggy and static environment, the strongly brackish air and soil, the constant proximity of the sea and the lack of fresh water contribute, over the centuries, to the formation of a grape with a very strong character. …

Aglianico, 1974
del Vulture, Torre Sveva
** One Gallon of Wine-3,78 Litre Bottle **
Please note that this is a rare one gallon bottle (3.78 Litre)
The real magic of Aglianico appears to the patient. Just like its Northern Italian stable-mate Nebbiolo (the only grape allowed in majestic Barolo and Barbaresco). The time softens the wines firm tannic structure and enamel-removing acidity revealing lush layers of sweetened fruit and dried floral aromas intermixed with dusty and spiced smoke savory flavors.

Barolo, 1974
Succ. A. Camerano
Barolo is known as the 'king of wines' and is made from the Nebbiolo grape. Heady aromas of rose, leather, vanilla, cherry, pepper, cranberry, strawberry. Fruits are perfectly knitted with the tannins and acidity. It's a powerful wine but remarkably subtle. Don't underestimate it and certainly serve it with food to show at it's best. Nebbiolo has naturally high tannins and acidity, so it will take on full-flavoured, rich foods no problem at all.
