St Julien 2eme Cru Classe
90 Points- Wine Journal
The 2007 Léoville Barton from Saint-Julien is a vintage from a cooler year in Bordeaux. While 2007 was not considered an exceptional year for Bordeaux, Léoville Barton still managed to produce a solid wine, thanks to its skilled winemaking and vineyard management.
The 2007 Léoville Barton is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (typically around 70-80%), with Merlot and a small amount of Cabernet Franc. Notes of red and black fruits (blackcurrant, cherry), with earthy undertones, cedar, tobacco, and hints of spice and herbs. Palate: Medium-bodied, with relatively soft tannins compared to stronger vintages. …

Chateau Leoville Las Cases, 1997
St Julien, 2nd Growth Classification, Bordeaux
Magnum Bottle (150cl)
Léoville Las Cases is the most legendary wine of Saint-Julien: on a quality par with the Médoc's first growths, without the hefty price premium to match. It is a prime example of a Bordeaux 'super-second' - a second growth operating at a first growth level. Léoville Las Cases is also one of the largest, oldest and most picturesque of the Médoc's classified Bordeaux growths. Grapes are fermented at lower than average temperatures, which is partially responsible for the wines displaying some of the most exotic aromas and aromatic richness in the Médoc.

Chateau Leoville Poyferre, 1981
St Julien 2me Growth Classification
A deep tawny rim with a mahogany core. This has a delightful nose, very good intensity with notes of cooked meats, roasted chestnut, toffee and a touch of marzipan. It smells as if it is from a hot vintage! After five minutes in the glass, it become a little muffled but develops a touch of mint. The palate certainly has more fruit concentration than the 1980, a rounded texture, quite sharp acidity with notes of sour cherry, a touch of leather and a dry, rather gamey, but attenuated finish. Not bad for a 1981.

***90 Points Robert Parker***
Tasted blind at the 2007 Bordeaux horizontal in Southwold. The nose is lacking a little vigour and definition: rather muffled black fruit, minerals, dark cherries but it opens up and coalesces in the glass. Modern in style, quite opulent for the vintage…typical of Didier's style. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe dusty tannins, quite spicy on the entry, nice weight and cohesion, a little dry towards the finish but decent length. Very fine.

Chateau Liot, 1971
Barsac, Sweet Wine
The 1971 Château Liot Sauternes is a rare and mature sweet wine from the Barsac appellation in Bordeaux. Château Liot is known for producing elegant, botrytis-affected wines primarily from Sémillon, with smaller proportions of Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle. While detailed tasting notes for the 1971 vintage are scarce, the wine's longevity suggests it has developed complex tertiary aromas and flavors over time.
Given the age of this vintage, the wine likely exhibits a deep amber color, with notes of dried fruits, honey, and nuts on the nose. On the palate, one might expect a balance between residual sweetness and acidity, with flavors of caramel, apricot, and perhaps a hint of spice. …

Reviews:
"This has a superb nose, very lifted and well-defined, cedar, blackcurrant, smoke and a touch of burnt toast. Just soars from the glass. The palate is full-bodied, ripe tannins, beautiful balance and poise with a sense of controlled opulence towards the finish. It comes across very natural, black cherries, blueberry, a touch of orange zest. This is certainly an over-performing wine for the vintage and shows better than previous bottles, although it did fade a little when returning after 15 minutes in the glass. Drink now-2015. Half Bottle (37.5cl)
An outstanding 2004 vintage Bordeaux wine from Chateau Lynch-Bages.
Ex-cellar bottle tasted blind at the Lynch Bages vertical. This has a noticeably clear, deep garnet colour. The nose is very clean and correct although it lacks a little complexity and flair: straightforward black fruits, cedar and pencil shavings. The medium-bodied palate shows a little hardness at first, but softens with aeration and soon adopts a more succulent texture with ripe black cherries, Doris plum and bilberry. Certainly this is a well balanced Pauillac packed full of ripe tannins with a crisp poised finish of black plum, cedar and cassis. …
