Taylor's Port, 1896

Taylors Single Harvest Port, DOC Douro

We are delighted to offer you Taylor’s extremely rare bottling of the magnificent 1896 Single Harvest Port.

Taylor’s has an extensive and enviable library of very old Ports which represent the cream of their aged reserves and on very rare occasions these wines have been released in extremely limited quantities. 1896 was one of the finest vintages of the 19th century and with very slow and gentle ageing in hand crafted oak casks, this wine has attained a magical quality, creating ports of extreme aromatic complexity with delightfully mellow structures.

Adrian Bridge, Taylor’s Managing Director commented: “The launch of a wine as old, valuable and unique as this one occurs only a handful of times in a generation.

Rutherglen Muscat

Yalumba Museum Reserve, Australia
Half Bottle Format 37.5cl
Sweet White Wine

Rutherglen Muscat is one of Australia's unique and richest styles of wine. In order to make it, Muscat grapes are left to raisin on the vine and then partially fermented before being fortified with grape spirit and aged in cask in a very hot climate for a long time.

This sweet wine should display a deep amber colour with aromas of burnt sugar and dry plum. Lush and smooth with cinnamon toast and spices on its lingering finish.

Rioja, Non Vintage

Lopez de Heredia,Vina Tondonia 6 Ano NV
Tempranillo Blend

Estimated to be one of the last production of this wine - 70's vintages

*Cellar Tracker Review 1/7/2021 - PAUL S : 90 Points*

This was slightly tired, but still charming. The nose had more than its fair share of balsamic and Madeira notes, but also a nice blush of dried cherries and berries, earth and cigarette smoke, and beyond that a lovely waft of perfumy florals. Funk aside, this was really nice. The palate was more alive than the nose let on, with fresh acidity and a rustle of silky tannins running through clear, pure notes of dried strawberries and cherries, with a whiff of cigarette spice and some wilting florals, all somewhat shadowed by a little layer of earth, meaty funk into a nice long finish.

Quinta do Vesuvio Capela, 2011

Capela Vintage Port
SINGLE BOTTLE 75cl

The Capela da Quinta do Vesuvio is made in years when truly exceptional wines are produced – the only prior release was in 2007.

The principal grape varieties chosen were again the Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and the Sousão, all of which performed magnificently at Vesuvio in 2011. For the first time ever, Charles Symington included a small parcel of Alicante Bouschet in a Vintage Port. Through ongoing evaluation over the last few years, the Alicante Bouschet has shown itself to be a very impressive variety, contributing structure and colour, due to its intensely coloured berries.

The Touriga Nacional and the Alicante Bouschet were picked and fermented together on one lagar, as were the Sousão and Touriga Franca in early October.

Quinta Das Carvalhas, 2021

Douro Branco das Carvalhas
White Wine From the Douro Valley
92+ Points - Parker

The Quinta Das Carvalhas 2021 white wine is a blend of the indigenous varieties of the Douro Valley, Viosinho, Rabigato and Côdega de Larinho. An elegant and expressive wine breaming with lemon and lime fruit and freshly cut apricots. On the palate its mouth-watering acidity and minerality provide a refreshing note and offer the perfect balance against the pronounced intensity of the citrus fruit. Hints of vanilla and a touch of toast develop further on the palate leading into a long lingering finish. If you are a fan of Chablis you will love this mineral example from the Douro Valley! 93/100 Points - Dia G, VWP Tasting March 2023.

Colheita Port in presentation box
***95 Points - Robert Parker***

Quinta da Devesa 1944 Tawny Colheita Port.

The 1944 is made from grapes harvested in that year - when the world was at war. The casks have been carefully maintained by the family, ageing gracefully until it was bottled in 2022. The the current generation are delighted to be able to share this rare Port with you, its longevity a testament to the previous generations who put so much care and attention into its creation back in 1944.

Late Bottled Vintage Port
37.5cl- HALF BOTTLE
Was £21.95 Now only £13.49
91 Points - Wine Advocate

A 2017 Late Bottled Vintage Port Wine from Quevedo.
Sourced from the winery's quintas at Vale d’Agodinho and Trovisca, this is dry, light and lifted. It's not the richest and deepest of the LBVs I've seen from this producer, but its focus and the length on the finish are superb. Very expressive as well, this shows brilliantly just now. It can also age and develop if you want to hold it.

Niepoort Port, 1952

Colheita Port (Traditional Bottle)

This wine has light tinges of ruby in the heart of this wine that mostly show a well-evolved color. Initially there was a minty note that will delight port lovers. Concentrated flavours and good length on the finish. This wine has plenty of life left

Colheita Port Storage and Serving Advice:
Colheita Port should be stored in a cool and dry place, sheltered from light and temperature fluctuations, and the bottle should remain in an upright position. If stored correctly, Colheita Ports will keep for decades in the bottle. Over time, it is natural that a little sediment will form at the bottom of a bottle of colheita Port wine.

Niepoort Port, 1937

Colheita Port, DOC Douro

"A green rim with a tawny core, sediment too. A deep, spicy nose shows dried spice and fleshy tamarind. In the mouth, it’s very concentrated, spicy and lively, with liquorice and darker treacle toffee notes. There’s a trace of bitterness to its slightly spirity finish, but it’s deliciously spicy with plenty of vigour." Sarah Amhed, The Wine Detective

An independent family business since 1842, through five generations. With the position of "niche player", Niepoort's mission is to maintain the production of distinctive ports and Douro wines, combining centuries-old tradition with innovation.

Niepoort Port, 1900

Colheita Port, DOC Douro

Reviews
"This brings back a fond memory of a long lost friend, Paul Napolitano from NY. He once opened this identical Port for me years ago at his home and at the time, it was the finest Colheita I had experienced, as well as the oldest. This one was bottled in 1976 or 1977. A piece is torn off the label and makes it impossible to be certain. Dark coffee color with a greenish edge. Is this Madeira? A nose of bouillon cube, scents of sea breeze and toffee, reminiscent of a Malvasia and the richness and supple spine live up to that mindset. The palate is packed with copious caramel and fig flavors along with prunes and toffee intricately woven into a neat little package.

Kopke, 1950

Colheita Port, Douro br/> In Kopke Presentation Box

The 1950 Kopke Port is a true rarity. Bright amber colour with a complex nose of dried fruits, suggestions of dried figs, nuts, almonds and hazelnuts. A harmonious whole, marked by delicious honey notes and a subtle touch of roasted peanuts. Rich and satin in the taste, reveals an excellent structure and a remarkable unctuosity. A powerful wine but also balanced and elegant with a singular persistent finish.

Colheita, or single harvest ports, are aged in the barrel. Contrast this with vintage ports which are aged in the bottle and only have a short drinking window after opening. Colheita ports have had air working on them through the cask during all the years of aging, giving them a open-life of a month or longer.
