“This is a deep-coloured wine with faint brick hues, dominated by aromatic notes of mint cedar and tobacco box. It reveals the presence of spices such as pepper and cinnamon, ripe black fruits and slight chocolate hits, the result of an excellent maturation. On the palate it displays excellent structure, good quality tannins and a very well integrated acidity. The 2013 Vintage Port Wine from Sandeman is only the second produced in the company’s history from its home vineyard Quinta do Seixo, in the Cima Corgo. In keeping with Port wine tradition, this wine remained in the Douro Region, at Quinta do Seixo, until the following spring, when it was transported to Sandeman's cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia for maturation in "balseiros". Over its first two years of life the wine was constantly monitored by the wine making team carefully assessing its development before the decision was made to declare it as only the second ever Single Quinta Vintage Port in Sandeman’s long and illustrious history. …

The 2016 Sandeman Vintage Port Wine returns to its glory. With an opaque with an almost black colour the wine has an intense, complex aroma. 2018 Sandeman Vintage Port. Sandeman did not produce a 2017 Classic Vintage Port in the knowledge that they had something better in the cask. The Single Quinta they produced in 2017 was in my top three Ports of the vintage so everything is looking good for the 2018. The price tag of the 2018 is hefty - well above other declared ports in this year. Early reviews appear to indicate that it merits it status.

Cask 33
Limited Edition Old Tawny Port

Sandeman’s Cask 33 is a single cask of Tawny Porto that is being launched to coincide with the celebration of Sandeman’s 225 years in 2015. The port includes wines of up to 70 years old that have been created by different generations of Sandeman master benders.

This release is a limited edition of only 685 bottles. The bottle design reproduces the style of those bottles originally used at the time of the founder in 1790 and are hand blown by one of Portugal’s last great artisanal bottle works.


Each year the winemaking team taste all the wines on the aging inventory, and when necessary, make adjustments in keeping with the house style. …

Royal Esmeralda 20 Year Old Amontillado

Nose: elegant, fragrant and rather creamy, with sweet toffee, dried apricot and lots of almonds. Round and honeyed. There are nice overtones of the original Fino, with old flor and a refreshing lemony note. Hints of Gianduja, cinnamon and varnished oak, and the lightest whiff of smoke.

Palate: a fairly high acidity at first (lemons, oranges), slowly becoming rounder with marzipan notes, lots of nutty notes (almonds, hazelnuts, cashew) and a warm oaky glow. Fades on light pepper and earthy / umami qualities. Very pleasant and rather complex.
