***19/20 Points- (JH) Jancis Robinson.com***
Warre’s 2020 Vinhas Velhas Vintage Port – 350 Anniversary Edition
Warre’s 2020 Vinhas Velhas 350th Anniversary Edition Vintage Port is made from the magnificent old vines at two of Warre’s estates, made exclusively from deep-rooted, horse-ploughed, 80 to 100-year-old mixed vines – for the first time in Warre’s long history. These old mixed vines produced an average yield of just 310g per vine – meaning three vines were needed to produce one bottle of this Vintage Port, when typically, it requires just one vine. The wine is intensely fruit-driven with unparalleled concentration and elegance that belies the conditions of the year. …

Vouvray, 1988
Domaine Huet Vouvray Clos du Bourg Moelleux
Domain Huet is one of the top producers of this fabulous sweet wine. The 1988 displays a brilliantly intense and very aromatic, quite floral, Gewurztraminer-like bouquet of ripe fruits (white fleshed stone fruits, apricots, quince confiture), rose petals, spicy and some stony flavors; it shows up very precise and complex and much younger than you might expect from a 30+ year old Chenin. Rich, intense, fresh, powerful and just slightly sweet on the palate due to the vibrant acidity and the tight and grippy tannins, this very mineral Chenin reveals a great tension and a compact, persistent and slightly drying finish, but a lingering salinity. …

Volnay, 1934
Henri de Villament/Collection du Docteur Barolet, Burgundy
The finest and most elegant red wines of the Côte de Beaune are grown in Volnay, a village which might be twinned with Chambolle-Musigny in the Côte de Nuits, for the high active chalk content in the soil and comparatively low clay content. Whereas in earlier times Volnay was made in a particularly light, early drinking style, these days there are many producers making wines which age extremely well.

Felloni Rossi
The grafting of the vine in the Valleys probably took place in 1528, when Ercole II Duca d'Este married Renata of France, daughter of Louis XII, who brought as a dowry a vine of the Côte d'Or of Burgundy, the Golden Grape precisely, that it found the perfect habitat in the areas of the Sandy Dunes of the Delta and in the Dossi of the Bosco Eliceo to reproduce at its best, among the holm oaks and delta bushes. The particularly humid, foggy and static environment, the strongly brackish air and soil, the constant proximity of the sea and the lack of fresh water contribute, over the centuries, to the formation of a grape with a very strong character. …

Vieux Chateau Certan, 1989
Pomerol
***94 Points- Neal Martin for the Wine Advocate
***94 Points- Neal Martin for the Wine Advocate, tasted 2016***
"The 1989 Vieux Château Certan has long been one of my favorite wines of that decade. The bouquet shows no signs of relinquishing that title with gorgeous black truffle, bay leaf, warm gravel and briary scents that are simply beautifully defined. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine line of acidity, "warm earth" on the entry, leather and truffle, great depth here with sublime precision on the finish, which is bridled with hints of mushroom and cloves. Maybe this is reaching its peak? Then again, it shows absolutely no signs of reaching the end of its plateau. …
