Chateau Leoville Barton, 2008
St Julien 2eme Cru Classe, Bordeaux ** 92 Points- The Wine Cellar Insider **
The 2008 Leoville Barton is deep pure purple with a slight edge of blue. Again (like Langoa) a well-rounded richness to the nose, ripe black fruit. Black mineral expression, and some very dry tannic structure, all with excellent depth of flavour. A real pleasure.

***90 Points- Silver Medal- IWSC 2023***
Aged in wood casks until they are completely mature, Tawny ports are a golden colour with multi-dimensional layers of aromas and flavours. The domination of Vintage Ports in past years is now challenged by the advantages of the tawnies, especially vintage colheita tawnies for restaurants and retail consumers. Where vintage ports have immediate air shock upon opening the bottle wherein they were aged and have a shelf life of only a few hours to a week; tawny ports have had air working on them through the cask during all the years of ageing, giving them a open-life of a month or longer. …

Chateau Mouton Rothschild, 2004
Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe, Bordeaux
Small scuff on front label
A 2004 vintage bordeaux wine. Prince Charles agreed that the label for Mouton Rothschild 2004 could be illustrated with one of his watercolours, inspired by a French landscape, in celebration of the 1904 Entente Cordiale. He has added in his own handwriting also to the label.
Reviews:
*** 94 Points - In Asia ***
"Deep garnet-black. There’s a wonderful purity of fruit on the nose with aromas of warm blackcurrant, dark cherries, dark chocolate, anise, cinnamon and a waft of cedar. The palate is relatively rich with a medium to full body and a good amount of ripe, mouth-filling fruit. Medium+ level of velvety tannins and medium+ acidity provide nice balance. …

Taylor's Port, 2001
Quinta de Vargellas Vintage Port
*** 17.5+/20 Wine Doctor ***
*** Decanter magazine: Silver (2001 vintage) ***
A delicious, single estate vintage port showing a deep purple colour and aromas of violets. Good conditions in 2001 led to a marvellously rich and ripe harvest. The palate is big and broad with black fruit flavours, hints of liquorice and stewed fruits. The finish is rich and long. A delicious wine with hard cheeses.
"There was a time when Taylor's release of Vargellas offered a chance to snap up a good value, maturing Port bargain; but in the last few years we seem to have skipped very quickly from the 1988 to the 1998 and now to the 2001 vintages. …

Chateau Laforge, 1999
St Emilion Grand Cru Classe, Bordeaux
From another of the properties of cult/boutique winemaker Jonathan Malthus, the 1999 Laforge is largely dominated by its unfiltered, old vine Merlot component. With dark chocolate, raspberry and espresso notes, sweet cassis, loads of earth, spice, and medium to full body, this is an attractive, bigger-than-usual style for Laforge, with some tannins still to resolve. It can be drunk now or cellared for another 10-15 years." (Robert Parker- 2015)The Wine Advocate

Niepoort 1999 Quinta Do Passadouro is probably Niepoort’s best Quinta Do Passadouro effort, yet in a not “fully declared” year. The hallmarks remain, with sumptious ripe fruit and silky tannins. Croft Port, 1994
Vintage Port Heavily Bin Soiled Label
Quite meaty, quite a tarry and umami character, nuttiness too over the plummy fruit. Mouth-coating, full, creamy fruitiness and sweetness, a slick of cocoa, spice and quite long. Very lovely and resolved.

Offley Port, 1994
Vintage Port
The 1994 Offley Vintage Port has a beautiful light brick color. The nose is warm, intense and pervasive, with a lot of roasted almonds, black cherry and dark chocolate. There is quite a bit of alcohol upfront, reminding of an Amaretto. Full bodied with a smooth and creamy texture and the same layers of flavors on the palate. The chocolate lingers for minutes.

Quinta de la Rosa, 1994
Vintage Port
Quinta de La Rosa is a small estate in the heart of the Port wine-growing region in Alto Douro, near Pinhao, owned and operated by the Bergqvist family.
The Quinta and its vineyards were given to the Bergqvist family as a Christening present by the Feuerheerds, who established the property in 1906.
It remains one of the few Single Quinta where the vineyards start at the bank of the Douro and rise 450 meters to the towering top of the mountain. From the river's edge to the top, one passes through 11 different microclimates. This gives La Rosa great flexibility to add variety and complexity to its Ports. …

Skeffington Port, 1994
Vintage Port
***91 Points- CellarTracker***
Fourth bottle from a half case purchased ten years ago and in fine fettle. Mature and drinking well now at 22 years of age, still vigorous and with gentle tertiary development in the form of some nutty warmth, ever so slightly stalky on the nose. Core of black cherries and dark chocolate on the palate, medium weight and intensity, light tannins, no excessive alcoholic heat, good length. A solid performance.

Chateau Mouton Rothschild, 1993
Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe
*** 90 Points - Robert Parker ***
Reviews: " The 1993 is a beautifully made wine which could be considered a sleeper of the vintage. The wine boasts a dark purple color, followed by a sweet, pain grillee, roasted nut, and cassis-scented bouquet that is just beginning to open. In the mouth, the wine may not possess the body and volume of a vintage such as 1990 or 1989, but there is more richness of fruit, a sweet, ripe, pureness to the wine, as well as medium body and outstanding balance. This moderately tannic, well-focused, surprisingly rich 1993 is capable of 15-20 years of evolution. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2015. …

Bourgogne, 1984
Robert Perrin
Bourgogne Rouge is the term used to apply to red wines from Burgundy that fall under the generic Bourgogne AOC, which can be produced by over 350 individual villages across the region. As with Bourgogne Blanc and Bourgogne Rosé, this is a very general appellation and thus is hard to pinpoint any specific characteristics of the wine as a whole, due to the huge variety of wines produced.Pinot Noir is the primary grape used in Bourgogne Rouge production, although Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and in Yonne, César grapes are all also permitted to make up the rest of the wine.
